• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

MY21 Aussie Release Date

KIA seem to be updating their website with the facelift. When you click 'Cars' at the top of their website pages the little image of the Stinger has the new design of alloy wheel - I'd guess details of the facelift will be uploaded in the next day or two.

Out of curiosity, was anyone able to secure the 2% p.a. comparison rate finance on the MY21 Stinger?

Not at time of signing up. But MY21 wasn't really in the 'system' at that time. Will be curious if that changes over the next few weeks

Details of the facelift and prices:

Interestingly, it appears the 4 cylinder models still have bonnet vents unlike overseas where only the 6 cylinder models retain them. Only the GT gets the new "watch strap" leather seat stitching; the other variants retain the original seat design. The GT and GT-Line now have the same design of alloy wheels; previously they had different designs.

There's no mention of a 'black' or 'dark' pack. Perhaps that'll be available as a future limited-edition model.

The website quickly glitched on my phone and showed me a photo of a MY21 on the front. Must be changing shortly, and the build and price now says MY20

Hi @bd01 , may I ask about your 15 year old Commodore, is it a VZ..?

I was told I could’ve done that with my MY21 as there were “ways around it”, but decided not to finance in the end

All models now seem to get the electronic shifter (based on photos)? Or did they all have it originally and I just missed it

EDIT: Nvm, looking at the specs and they all seemed to of already have it

Yep confirmed. We always had the electronic shifter here in Oz.

Is this KIA doing to world's worst advertising job or is it Automotive journalists just jumping to write articles to meet quotas/deadlines?

Can't believe there isn't any official KIA Australia press release and brochures for the MY21. Even the photos of the interiors in all the articles show the Korean diamond stitching ... Never have I seen an article which shows interior that we actually getting here in Australia.

It’s both and it’s no different to when it first released. Even now you struggle to find Kia advertising for the Stinger. You get the odd old tv ad but when they released that over a year ago it didn’t run regularly. So much hype about it before it landed in Australia from motoring journalists then nothing after they did the early reviews and Kia really didn’t capitalise on the hype. I bought mine mid 2018, Stinger was realeased in Australia October 2017 and even after 8-9 months of sales I still knew more about some of the features in the car than the guy selling it to me at the Kia dealership. For what was meant to be their flagship model especially in Australia to fill the gap left by the demise of Holden & Ford and RWD sedans they really haven’t done a very good job. I’d say a large portion of Stinger sales go from word of mouth from other owners.

I did. I wasn’t going to finance but considering that was available I ended up financing part of the purchase. Capital better used elsewhere.
My dealer flat out said no way to financing a my21 with 2%. I walked straight out of the finance managers office when he said no.

Yeah can’t explain that. I was originally looking at a MY20 but switched it up so maybe that’s why it was available.... They also knew I wouldn’t have touched finance if the rate was above 2%, I assume dealers still get a kickback from the bank so prefer some finance to none at all.

Very few dealers own their entire stock therefore they have to finance, it’s called a Floor Plan. If you buy a car and finance through the dealer then the dealer gets a commission but more importantly the amount financed is offset against the Floor Plan which reduces interest cost to the dealer.

Yeah gotcha, good insight. Thanks.

Can someone tell me how I track the "glovis shipping line" that someone said you could look at to see what's coming to your closest port? I don't know where to start

Just interested in seeing where my stinger is :P

Talked to dealer today Andrew Simms Botany, same quote as you got. They're expecting their demo anytime now, apparently it's in NZ somewhere.
Have you popped into Botany and viewed the blacked out Stinger as yet? I've viewed a red one, and noted no sequential indicators here in NZ either.. Did you hear there is a Limited Edition due in April?
