Congrats ! I wish you well

I ended up using this thing to cut out the out two rows of cells that partially block the snorkels on the GT grills. Cleaned up the residual melted plastic with some mini (needle) files. It made very precise cuts and the piece popped right out. The thought of using a Dremel wasn’t appealing.

Takes a little time for the knife to initially plunge, but like most tools, just let it do the work and don’t force it. It’s only an exacto blade affixed to a soldering iron. 9BE04436-17D6-410B-9B6D-8ABA4172FBD5.webp

Thought I took a picture of the pieces I cut out but can’t find any.

Ohhh
I didn't know the grille situation was that bad on the GT. Well done!
Yeah, the GT1/2 grills make up for the radar blockage in the middle with more air on the periphery.

I also have a GT
once I get my CK71 LED DRL delivered. I’m going to do both install at the same time.
in your picture, can you mark about where, I would need to cut a piece off

thanks!!

If you look closely there are little hexagonal fillers towards the outside edges of the grill.

Got to cut these little guys out. Two rows of them on each side 67B81259-FEF6-4FFC-AB65-32375D00C8C2.webp

Nice find! Yeah the GT and GTS have 2 additional columns on each side filled in because they don't have the radar blockage in the middle.

I removed the entire shroud when installing @Rakker snorkels. In case anyone is hesitant about removing the shroud I was driving in temps over 100 today for over three hours and the water temp didn’t rise beyond normal. I even had the car running while parked in 108 degrees for about 10 mins and again the temp did not rise.
What does the shroud even do? It just felt like a flimsy piece of plastic barely secured in there. It didn’t appear to have any purpose except to secure the wiring as far as I could tell.

It directs air into the radiator much like the snorkels are directing air into the engine bay and it keeps the weather and dirt from infiltrating the surrounding area.

Some say it’s not necessary, but it’s probably better to have than not have if you have the patience to reshape it.

Successfully installed. I chose to modify the air scoop instead of removing it as I have no plans of removing the snorkels. On a side note, I still have the factory cold air boxes installed. I've noticed a huge difference in throttle response above 40mph, and at highway speeds it's a whole different car. Seriously debating now if I still want the injen intakes. Factory boxes provide ram air injection. Thinking dropping in k&n filters now. What do you guys think?

@tshing02 g or anyone else that might have the answer, would removing the radiator funnel or scoop or whatever you want to call it be detrimental in regards to performance? If so, with what @tshing02 has done, does that seem to still function similarily to how it was stock as far as getting fresh air to the coolers?
