Lease then Buyout - Contract Explanation

Yes Agreed! He just shuffled the lease rebate into a downpayment. Presumably to make a more attractive payment (which he doesnt understand, is not important to us).
I'm just wondering if I get the down payment subtracted from the final payoff amount at the time that I buy out the lease. If so, it doesnt matter where he puts the rebate. But if it is NOT and I lose part or all of that rebate money, then I have to insist that he take the rebate off the adjusted cap cost. Is that clear as mud? I hope I have made some sense at least lol

you should be ok so long as they add the rebate/down payment to the cap cost reduction section. I know you mentioned your adjusted cap cost went up though which makes me think something is off. Do you have a worksheet you can share?

Yes, here it is. But the discount is not enough so we will be passing on this one. I really wanted to make sure that I understood the numbers and the process.

Yeah I would pass on this as well. Does looks like the rebate was taking off the adjusted cap cost though. But you mentioned wanting an AWD and based on the msrp it looks like they quoted you for a rwd gt2. I think awd closer to 53-54k msrp. I got mine towards the end of the month they might be more willing to negotiate in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

Does anyone know if there are current lease incentives on the GT2 AWD? I was using Edmunds for the last few weeks to find out the incentives, but I believe they expired 9/8/20. Hopefully I can still benefit from the $9,400 off.

Thank you so much for the review and we agree! We did know this was for a RWD and may have considered it if the price was right. The hunt continues! but at least we are feeling more confident about our grasp of the numbers! Thanks again!!

Good call on passing on this deal. My numbers tell me your Adjusted Cap Cost would need to be at $38,648. You would've overpaid by $3k with an Adjusted Cap Cost of $41,625.

Forgive me for asking what might be a basic question. Trying to dive into the learning curve here: Based on WMZ's link to Autobytel, help me understand what the information is telling us. My zip is in Oklahoma, and there are two categories of rebates listed. Do these stack? For example, there is a $4,500 Rebate listed as "KMF Bonus Cash." Then, depending on the length of the lease (24/36/46 mo) there is another $ amount listed as "KMF Lease Cash."
Do these add together for total incentives and rebates? For 24 months, $6,900 + $4,500 = $11,400?
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Welcome to the forum! Im new too and everyone has been great about newbie questions. I dont believe that you can stack the rebates. Kia cash is for a purchase and lease rebates are for leases according to your model and trim and length of lease term.

Whats up guys.. trying to soak all this in as a new forum member. I found a few local 2020 GT2s I want to try and target for a lease then buyout. What should I be aiming for with the new numbers? 10% off plus lease credit? MSRP $51,565. Am I aiming for around $37,500 sale price?

A lease buyout, takes advantage of the lease rebate.
In order to do a lease buyout 1st you must have good to great credit.
Then do a lease term 24 months 12K miles to get the biggest lease rebate.
Get at least 10% or more on dealer discount off MSRP, but do not pay the dealership addendum sticker.
Then subtract the lease rebate.
Then subtract your trade-in. If you have a car to trade in.
Then add Tax, Tag, doc fee, and acquisition fee, but Beware of BS fees.
Then this is your balance, which is also your Adjusted Cap Cost
When going to sign the lease agreement, make SURE Adj Cap Cost is the same as the balance you agreed too.
Also make sure and read sections sections 9, 22D, 23B.
Congrats you are now driving away with a new Stinger.
Sign onto KMF, verified your VIN, click get buyout quote.
If it said please contact dealership. You need to go to a dealership to buyout.
You can go to any dealership to buyout.
If required to buyout the lease at dealership, they will add Tax, Tag, and fees again. Again Beware of BS fees.
Get financing through a credit union.
This is were you can put your down payment.
Congrats you now have a traditional car loan and own the car.

According to autobytel, this month lease rebate was reduced. If looking at a GT2 RWD. Lease rebate is $8,500. AWD is $8,900
So, yes your aiming for $37,500 or more sale price BEFORE your trade-in, Tax, Tag, and fees

Gotcha. I have no trade so really just $37,500 before tax, tag, title, and the insane $699 doc fees dealers in GA charge..

it’s still better then the $899 or $999 here in FL

Now I'm realizing most of these 2020s I'm finding have anywhere from 500-2000 "dealer demo" miles on them. Not sure how much that should adjust price or if I should just avoid those in general?

if you can get a good additional discount on them. Not sure how much, but maybe starting at $1 per mile off? ‍♂

I bought a demo with 5.4k miles on it and managed to get 11% off MSRP. Since it was still sold new and had the warranty I thought it was worth it. I’m sure someone has gotten a non demo one with the discount but i couldn’t find one in the ceramic silver color I wanted so went with the demo.
