Howdy, Stinger hive-mind!
I've been seeing posts/threads regarding aftermarket intake systems for the 3.3, but haven't seen anything about one for the 2.0 as yet. Does anyone have any info about this? :)

Thanks for the thumbs up, @Kia Stinger :) Any chance this thread can get a bump? I'm sure you, me, and @Luminary aren't the only ones wanting more info on this...

I too am interested in an air intake system for my 2.0. Would do it along with a LAP3 Uncle tuning chip and an oil catch can. Anticipating it will make my Stinger sneaky fast while keeping it nice and nimble! :ninja:

Mike at importshark.com is working on an intake for the 2.0. He did some test fitting on my 2.0 and I believe is currently in the manufacturing process.

Great news! Would it be an open pod system like K&N or makes use of the existing air box?

Same here, I just started looking into this myself.

Hey there, @ImportSharkMike ! Any info you can share w/ the 2.0 hive? :)

Sure, the R&D process is expected to be completed in about 2 weeks. I expect to have pics for everyone at the beginning of March. Once I give NGM the go-ahead, they'll crank out the first batch. They're very reasonable as far as pricing is concerned too, so I would expect it to be in the $150 range including shipping to US destinations. (Figure about $20 higher to Canada and $30 or so more to the rest of the world). Again though, that's just an estimate based on other intakes they've done in the past, so don't quote me on it.

Oh and, actually the owner asked me about a few details the other day, such as what color piping/hoses they should do and what kind of filter. I told him black piping is ideal and a standard cone type filter. (If anyone disagrees or has any other suggestions, let me know!) They were thinking about including an HKS style mushroom filter, but I think playing it a little more on the safe side would work better. NGM uses S&B filters, which are probably the best out there. Personally, I prefer S&B to the likes of Injen, AEM and especially more so than K&N. They even have a top inlet as opposed to making that closed. Considering where the OEM air ducting is going to be shooting the air flow, these are perfect.

Do any of these mods void the warranty ??????

The warranty only applies to the part that is modified. For example if an LED goes out in your taillights, the dealer can’t deny you a replacement part because an intake is on the car. Even if your engine blows, they have to prove it was the intake that caused the issue. Of course, if your engine does crap out, then I’m sure we’d all quickly reinstall the OEM airbox before the car goes to the dealer. ;) This isn’t a major mod, such as changing the turbo or swapping out the manifold. Dealers usually won’t care about them but why give them the chance? A safe thought process is always go back to stock before servicing.

Lol yea better bet your rear end it does! Tuning is the biggest reason for warranties being voided.

Awesome! Thanks for posting, sir! Will this intake be following the OEM routing? Will this be considered a cold air intake? VERY excited about this! :)

It's an SRI, though I'm going to test fit the carbon fiber heat shield that NGM makes for the 3.3 on a 2.0 to see if that might work. It's worth a shot! Air is fed to the filter from the OEM air ducting. It's a decent location for the filter actually.

Tune? What tune? Two plugs come off real fast. Lol
Yea but the ECU probably logs any irregularities

Great! Living in the greater Seattle area I was hoping you'd lead off with an SRI style version :)

I'm pretty sure making a CAI would be difficult due to lack of an open path for piping going down to the vent area. Due to OEM air ducting being on most cars these days, SRI's are more or less hybrid style intakes. It's not like the filter is basically isolated from free-flowing air like many intakes back in the day where a CAI design was ideal. We'll be fine with an SRI.
