• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Access to "engineering mode"

I would imagine this car has some form of Dyno mode, where it disconnects the AWD system and turns off all the stability aids.

This would be fantastic as I've become concerned about pulling the AWD fuse, and the vehicle constantly running under a OBDII error code. It doesn't show any lights, but the car does know something has been modified/removed.

I'm in :D

The new code is 2998

As per my post above; access via the settings > about menu. Click the "map" text 4 times; then click the map version number text.

The bad news is there's less options & no Android menu compared to last year's firmware.
thanks you have not had a chance to do much yet except get screen shots of the 3 options
thank you will try it tomorrow and report back

so with no android option, cannot allow android install of "3rd party apps", so no access to explorer to side load apps. Bummer

Bummer indeed

There's even less engineering options too. On the previous firmware there was DAB buffering & volume adjustments for each media source - all of which aren't there now.

Who knows if there's a different code that brings up a different menu or not too.

yes there may be other codes, found attached but not current

do you have the screen with the bezel? I think they are two diff OS. I’d be curious about the “dynamics” page.

I had a look at those other numbers @Iantoday but can't see any correlation to the working 2998 one. I was hoping there'd be some sort of binary or hex pattern to it - but nothing I recalculated worked. :(

Might be worth purchasing access to kia-hotline.com again to see if there's a technical guide for troubleshooting the headunit. (eg: navigation not showing live traffic - or DAB radio not buffering properly)

The original engineering menu trick that worked on the previous Australian firmware never worked on the US ones I believe. Perhaps this is different software builds because we don't have UVO.

Playing around with this menu today, u found one useful thing. The VR barge in setting. It allows you to interrupt the voice prompt helper.
So instead of
Car: "Beep...Please Say a command"
Driver: "FM 96.5"

Now you can
Car: "Beep.. Ple..."
Driver: "FM 96.5!!!!"

I also found a funny little Easter egg from a tired engineer, and changed my radio settings to have a few more KHz and finer tuning like over the pond (just for fun), and changed my vehicle type to shooting brake. No idea what it does. I clicked on everything I could. I wish there was a breakdown on what everything does.
Sadly the option to enable the modem is greyed out, I'm wondering if this is a hardware module that's added on. Has anyone with UVO live taken a head unit apart yet? Or an American one? Maybe there's a plug for a 4G modem or sim card. Then with a flash to the Canadian firmware, we could get UVO live in the US. Found this interesting thread from google. Do you guys have any update on how to be able to install the 3rd-party app for 2020 version? thanks!

No luck from me. But definitely still interested. Australian still on no. 12.47.51.632.001.2

In our country, some guys did a work-around by downgrading to a previous version.

I am very curious about this. One could look on eBay for a replacement head unit and inspect the pictures!

I tried this a long time ago and it does not work...
With the car off but on accessory mode.

Go to the navigation menu.

Select address

Type
IDKFA

Move the shifter from park to drive, drive to reverse, then pack to park.

Honk the horn 3 times (1 second between).

Roll down the passenger window all the way down, then back up.

Set your emergency flashers on.

Open all the doors including the trunk.

Remove clothing and run through the neighborhood singing AC/DC’s Big balls.

That should get you in.

The previous instructions worked okay, 10 taps on the screen, then 1 tap at the bottom of the line worked to get into the engineering mode. But 80% of the things available were in Korean characters, which were useless to me. I didn't find anything that was interesting, so I haven't tried poking around since the update.
