3.3TT Exhaust Comparison Chart

With both the Quicksilver and MBRP out now, the latter being out for a number of months, would like to see this list updated. :)
I've been keeping an eye on both systems but leaning more towards the MBRP since they are Canadian, which would be a lot less hassle if something were to go wrong or break. With this whole virus epidemic though, I've put off spending any large sums for mods but it would be cool to see it compared to the other systems and added to the chart.

I would love to hear some feedback from anyone who has installed the Jonny Tig 4" single exit exhaust.

Me too, though admittedly, I'd like to see something more integrated into the rear valence, so that we don't have fake exhaust tips sitting on the back of the car. But I _love_ the sound. Would love to go this route if I wasn't leaning so hard towards EVC options.

I just want to hear feedback around drone and whether or not it will pass with my wife. For the valence, I would so the same thing JT did to their shop car. They made block off plates for where the tips exit.

My 2 cents on exhausts--as I plan on getting one with my stinger.I have had all exhausts from borla to straight pipes--on V8 American cars to V6 Japanese/Asian made cars. The best exhaust I have had were straight pipes that were WELDED to the car.On my last car I had a full borla and not only was it only a little louder then stock (the exhaust also shook--you could move it up and down with your hand)--it was 1k plus and had drone.I luckily found an exhaust guy that had worked for Ganassi racing and he replaced the borla with tips--a straight pipe--but he welded all the parts and welded the tips and pipe to the car--which not only gave awesome noise--it stooped the drone.the drone is actually caused by bolt ons and hangars and bushings--which because they are not welded--all move and create resonance and not only the drone--but that awful rasp you hear on cars. The heat will also cause the metal to shrink and expand and if you use rubber bushings and hangars on the car--it will add to the drone as the metal heats and it microscopically vibrates more. All the race cars he worked on were required to have everything welded--and you can hear the difference at races in which most of the cars have straight pipes. Also if you do straight pipes--do not remove the resonators or the catalytic converter, they will not give you that much more HP and will also add drone.Just remove the mufflers and have all the parts welded--then have it welded to the undercarriage of the car.The mufflers restrict air and so do these performance systems. He has done dynos and this alone will give you a 3% to 10% increase--and you will have that deep sound without drone or rasp--but it has to be WELDED to the car. Also if you can put an exhaust on in your garage with no welding--you will get the drone because the parts will move. You can tap a borla exhaust with your foot and it will move slightly because it is using hangars and bushings and that movement is causing the resonance. My exhaust guy said they discovered this in the late 80s--90s when computer models began to be testing.I am just recalling this from my memory of my last exhaust he did and will do my stinger soon and post it on here.I am also not crapping on borla or any other exhaust--they do what they say--but there is a reason full blown race cars do not have bolt ons--safety is one thing cause it could shake itself apart--and it is also still restrictive as opposed to str8 pipes.Goto muffler delte on you tube--someone in my state of GA has a blue one that they did this with and sounds great--but it still looks like they used a rubber bushing to hold the pipes in place and the guy did not shoot enough of a detailed video.Hope this helps.

BTW I have an olds aurora V8 on you tube that has this setup--it is under my user name here. You can hear that the exhaust has the perfect sound--not too loud--no rasp--no drone--and is a str8 pipe done by this guy and was WELDED to the car.Goto you tube--look Flaniganskywalker and you can see my vids--including my Type R crosstour--that had an expensive exhaust that droned--in which last year I replaced with str8 pipes and not only got a deeper sound--the drone was gone--the exhaust was a Type R by honda--decent--but droned and it would move if I pushed on it with my hand--as it was on there with hangars from the factory.

Video of my Quicksilver catback, sorry if the audio sucks it's from my phone. This is stock everything except for the catback system.

Here is my new exhaust and I explain and show how it was done to avoid drone.Muffler delete--cats and resonators on--main thing--all parts were welded--including to the car so that there is no shake--no hangars or bushings used because that is where you get rasp and drone.I will have to put it on you tube--the file is to large.I have a you tube channel under my name here--goto you tube and type in Flaniganskywalker and the video should be up soon.

No drone and vibration?
Doesn't the exhaust pipe expand due to heat? Won't that cause stress to the chassis causing vibration and drone?

I thought the whole idea of rubber exhaust hangers were to reduce the vibration which will cause drone, especially in this hatch setup such as our Stingers.

It might expand (but it is microscopic and can not move--the welds are on the side of the pipes--so the exhaust outlets could turn red hot and they would still not move.--bushings allow it to shake--mine does not move at all but it is welded to the car and can not move at all.I was told to do this by an ex race crew of ganassi racing--they weld exhausts to race cars--that is why you hear a smoothe sound.go on you tube I posted a video.if you use bushings and hangars--you can move the exhaust by pushing it with your hand.I have 2 welds on each side and could do a pull up on my exhaust and it would not budge. Also because it is welded--there is zero chance of it hitting the outlets that are in the bumper.Youve heard all these cars with these 1k exhausts that have that nasty rasp to them.I replaced a 1200 dollar exhaust with this years ago on a car and was explained what to do.I will post a drive video but this stinger site is only able to let folks download only a few seconds of a video.

Just to let you know--looks like KIA used metal hangars or some sort of steel bracket attached to the car to keep it from not moving.I can tell you from experience rubber bushings will let the exhaust system shake microscopically--affecting the sound of an exhaust.I doubt there is any way that the exhaust noise or heat can do anything to the chasis. The strain would be negligible as opposed to just driving the car.We only have v6's in our cars. They are not even close to what some v8s are putting out--and our car is well built and a heavy sedan.

Goto you tube and listen to some of the vettes--plus I am not touching the cats or resonators.

Anyone have first-hand experience with the Stillen exhaust? I liked the sound in the promo video they have, but haven't been able to find anything else

Not sure if this has been talked about. Is a programmer needed after installing full exhaust system? On my HellCat 6.4 I had to run a DiabloSport tuner.

NO--I have a full free flow--no mufflers and just took mine in for an oil change and asked KIA.Intakes and anything after the cats does not need a tune--the computer adjusts for it.All the exhaust does is allow the engine to breathe easier and adds HP % depending on air temp and RPM--up to 10% increase. Here is my video.I also just installed R1 geomet cross drilled rotors and KIA said the rotors are very high quality--I will shoot a video of the car with rotors and some acceleration runs to hear the exhaust. I mean that does sound decent, I worry about the exhaust being welded to the car and it seems almost impossible that you don't have any drone inside the cabin considering the exhaust tips don't extend in to the OEM ones. Exhausts move and hangers allow for that movement, welds don't and will eventually crack.

It has outlets going right into the stock ones--all 4.The guy that did this worked for chip ganassi racing and it has very little drone.Hangars--and the movement of them actually cause the drone. The welds--I have 4 of them and had this on my last car for years and no problem--and that was after I removed a 1000 dollar plus brand name exhaust that droned awfully and all the hangars were loose.I have a lifetime warranty on all the work so I am satisfied that it will last--plus I get the max flow without affecting the warranty or computer ECU.There is no shake at all with these and the drone is about 1500 rpms and quickly fades once you accelerate.

I see that Falcons tag in the video. If you're ever around Cumming or thinking of meeting up with some others check out the Stinger Club of Atlanta on facebook, I'd love to hear these in person. I've got the Borla S-type cat back with the ARK secondary down pipes and I love the sound.

Do you have a video revving or driving under load?

Sure>I am in duluth and my name on you tube is Flaniganskywalker.I also have a comparison of my buddies kenny bell lightning where we BS on the video.I think he just met up folks at perimeter mall and saw about 50 stingers there.I will BTW anyone in that stinger group use pressertech since they are in the area.

If you want--jim and nicks BBQ in suwanee is now open if you want to meet there.I think that is kinda in between duluth and cumming.I bought my stinger at lou sobh in cumming because they gave me a great deal and I wanted the AWD--but did not want the extra electronics on a GT1 or 2. I was able to retire young and have a small organic soap business that I run from home.I donate what I would pay in taxes to the wounded warriors. We can also goto the home depot parking lot and do a video of our exhausts side by side and I could post it on you tube and here.Problem is this site can only handle very short videos--I tried to post my exhaust on here but it would not take the file cause it was too big.I put a request in to join the club--so you should see my profile on facebook--in RL my name is James.--I also got some R1 rotors--cross drilled and vented and they look fantastic and stop even better.
