Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

Yeah, even have a wireless remote to turn it on or off at will. I wired mine up so that there is no fuse and it’s loud all the time. When I want to go back to “stock” and have the active bi-modal working, I just hit the remote! Works very well.
Ok now you have me intrigued, please be so kind as to sharing the "HOW the hell did you do that?" Would appreciate a bit of a step-by step guide if possible?

What wireless remote did you use? Can the remote be purchase online?

Just trying to better understand this.. Does the type of Bi-Modal Kia fit depend on the MY ? Ie. does the new bi-modal that requires less installation only fit MY20? And MY17-18-19 all require the old set-up with dash removal ? Cheers

That's a good question. I've been advised by a dealer that the new version is not compatible with the earlier builds. Dealer also believes the original bi-modal is still in production and readily available.

So is the exhaust meant to sound windy when u get it going. While the exhaust sound great in the back seat I just noticed it as strange tone like an air leak when u accelorate hard?

Any dealer recommendations in Vic to get the exhaust fitted ? Chadstone Kia want over $3500 for it supplied and fitted !
im not giving business to a dealer who wants to jack up the price over the RRP especially in the current climate. I would be expecting dealers to be helping people out and doing deals below RRP. It also gives them some extra work assuming servicing volumes will be low.

They don’t seem to want to differentiate between the two on the website and seems the quoted price is the newer one which is about $1000 more than the original for the MY18 models. There’s no way I’m coughing up $3500 for a bi modal. I kick myself that I didn’t get it when I bought the car nearly 2 years ago but I can live without it.

That's probably the turbo doing its thing.

Perhaps the older one is a special order. I've seen them on eBay being offered by Alan Mance in Melbourne ~ 2k.

Nope its not turbo whistle I know that well from my last pocket rocket.
It just sounds different compared to my last deep crackle and pop

Hey guys I have the bimodal and the fuse is in the boot. When I pull the fuse out(has 2 fuses thst goes into the main plug) my reverse cameras don't work anymore and also when I restart the car the infotainment screens off. Any work around to have the valves open 24/7 without those issues happening for me

Someone suggested sticking the original fuse back you will need to check the chart which fuses it is.

I think my system needs a look at I tried pulling the fuse tap and both valves stayed shut all the time. Even the exhaust looks cleaner then the middle ones :( Which there was a way to test these valves. with a metre or something

There are limited alternative fuse options in the rear panel and I think each would serve an active purpose. If you want valves open all the time then, with engine off, take the green fuse out of the black holder and plug it into the board.
Another option could be to run a cable from the red wire up to the cabin and install a switch. This would be a lot more convenient than having to pop the boot each time you want to disconnect/connect.

Thanks Shannon I'll give that a shot later on when I get home. Cuz I've noticed also when the cable is out seems to not kick in the sports mode shifting and up gear when disconnected.

So it seems the funny noise I hear is the Bi-modal not working at all. I had a good look at the flaps and the exhaust on the inside looks brand new not one bit of carbon deposit. did a few test and the flaps never open.
Now the dealer can't fix it and needs Kia Australia to work out what's wrong.

I asked the dealer did you not test it when you fitted it they said it was fitted at pre-delivery, not by us. Got a feeling they have not connected to the ECU somewhere. (2020 model fuse in the boot).
Now for the wait and pay $28 for a rent a bomb again to fix it. Not even a free loan car to fix their FU

That's BS, mine was fitted at the dealer during the PD as i went and checked it out...I would have demanded loan car.
Tell them you'll get car serviced at other dealer see how they feel then.

I wont be going back to that dealer period. They don't park the car on site (its left in the street all day) and I really wish I went to the other dealer in Canberra instead.
They did the free service 2K early and now waiting for how do I fix the exhaust from Kia and new proximity sensor for the doors as the arieal has short. glad 12v won't kill me hey.

Love the car part some dealer after-sale service is a joke

So there are only two KIA dealers in ACT, National Capital and John McGrath, and one (or both) doesn't have a clue about a bi-modal system. And one has a third party do a PD. Now I understand why some owners drive 3 hours out of Canberra to get a decent service experience.
As @Bigbikes stated the Dealer is full of BS. There are only two possibilities for the installation....1. The dealer did it..... 2. It was subcontracted. Either way there's no need to wait on advice from KIA and it should be a simple matter to diagnose why power isn't getting through to the actuators. If the fault can't be traced then KIA should be brought in and the Dealer does this by logging the issue by computer. KIA will most likely authorise a complete replacement as I believe spare parts for these units are not available.
The outcome will end up positive for you but you shouldn't have to put up with all this shit and particularly have to fund a loan/hire car for someone's failure to correctly install and test, or perhaps a faulty unit from the manufacturer (Lumen in Melbourne)
