What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Getting PPF applied to the car today. Having a professional do it, Expel film. Bumper, headlights, hood, mirrors, A,B,and C pillars, front portion of front fenders, side skirts, and in front of rear wheel wells. Full ceramic coating this fall, just not in the budget right now unfortunately.

Should anyone in Edmonton be interested, truly great work.

Front or rear bar? OEM mudflaps?
You're good! Both front and rear sways and front mudflaps. They forgot to send the rear flaps or I would've raised two small boxes.:geek:

Chipping/peeling would be dip. Powder coating is very durable. The one negative to gloss black is that swirl occurs over time; it's inescapable. I asked my wheel restoring guys what it would cost to return them to glossy black (sans swirls, in other words), and they said it's cheaper to just do the powder coat fresh. Hmm! I may try and hand polish the swirls, just to see if it's that hard to polish them out. If it's a pain, I'll just live with the swirls until I spring for another powder coat.

Merlin- what do mean "swirls" in powder coat? Can you take a picture or two of the swirls please?

Had almost decided to get OEM rims powder coated instead of new rims...until I read about swirls, not I'm wondering...

:D You "made me" go see. I pulled one wheel off the shed shelf, got out the Meguiar's Polishing Compound and found out that a very little rubbing (in this test, no more than c. half a minute) produced wonders. I'm thinking that once a year, or two, you can go over all the high impact surfaces (essentially, anywhere that a car wash would hit), and polish the swirls right out.

PPF applied and nicely detailed.

Notice the hideous slope of my driveway. Lowering is sadly not an option.

What all did you get covered by the PPF, and how much did you pay, if you don't mind sharing?

I'm strongly considering a PPF too and am curious what people pay around the country. The several quotes I got vary dramatically.

I'm in Canada so the price will be completely different, but I paid 1200 for the prep, sealant, polish, and film. Covered was the bumper, headlights, hood, skirts, lower doors, front half of front fenders, front edge of rear fenders, door cups, truck edge, and A, B, C pillars. Every edge is folded over as opposed to just cutting it flush. Took two guys seven hours so it's 100% worth it to me.

Find a reputable shop, do a ton of research. These cars aren't cheap, and neither is repainting. Don't go cheap on vehicle protection.

Got my AEM intakes installed, and the MBRP cat back. I bought it and the tips months before I had the car, didn't realize how much trimming was needed. Gonna order ovals instead. Bit of resonance, not too much at all though.

This past week my long running paint issues were finally fixed by the dealer. I'm also glad I waited to have the plastic top pieces put in by the body shop as they painted them to match unlike the dealer that wanted to put them in black.

Replaced my clockspring. Part number was different but was told that it was one of the 2 listed so should have no issues. Reused the big bolt, just used a lot of blue locktight. It's not going anywhere. IMG_20200503_191832.webp IMG_20200503_191459.webp
