Well, thats unfortunate. My deadening material is being delivered today, so I am going to go ahead and install some on the hatch floor anyway. I feel like just reducing the volume of the rasp might be enough for me, even if it doesn't eliminate it. Sounds like when I eventually get some sway bars installed this summer that the downpipes might be going back to stock! I want to give it a few months though.

Thanks everyone for the info. How hard is removing the back seat? From what I have seen, its just some clips for the bottom and like 4 bolts for the backs.

One thing that helped with my drone (trying to figure out what tips to go with) was setting the exhaust sound setting in the car to minimal. I had it on enhanced.

People actually don't turn that off?

I have MBRP + Ark downpipes and I find that right around 2k RPM it doesn't sound very good inside the cabin. I have those tips from amazon linked above, so that should be helping with that drone issues others have experienced. I also have some sound dampening material on the way for me to apply to hatch floor. Hoping that helps the noise.

I have stock midpipes and agree 100% about the drone right around 2K. Thankfully, once you get above 4th or 5th gear it goes away for the most part.

I too have sound deadening and tips but wish it were just a little bit quieter. I read so many reviews that said MBRP had no drone, but in actuality, that's not the case.

The money is already spent so I'm not reverting back to stock, but this is more of a warning for future buyers. If you want no drone whatsoever, this isn't the exhaust for you.

Hate to tell you, but it's not going to help. I sound deadened my trunk and under the rear seats pretty thoroughly and drone at 2K RPM with the MBRP + SSR midpipes was unchanged.

The overall loudness was reduced, but that metallic rasp was just as bad as ever. Only thing that fixed it was going back to stock midpipes and now it sounds fantastic.

Hey man, thoughts and additional pics on the diamond mats? I've been thinking about getting some for my ride. All black interior needs a little something to break up the monotony.

I totally disagree with you on this one. You must have extremely sensitive hearing or something. No offence! When I put the MBRP on my first thought was “my this is quiet” my wife still doesn’t think I’ve done anything to the exhaust that has made the car louder. I’m trying to find the best price for the Ark secondaries in hopes of living it up a bit. So for anyone looking at the MBRP you’ll just have to buy it install it and figure it out for yourself because we are obviously all hearing something different. Kinda like Tequila some like it others love the shit.

I wouldn't reccomend them. My drivers side has not held up well as the protective rubber padding isn't long enough. I'm probably going to ditch them and get some LuxMats.

So whats funny is that I took a drive with the new tips on, and it sounds a little quieter now. I think my other tips weren't the best and maybe that contributed. I was only going for a drive to make sure the tips didn't fall off, and was actually a little taken back that it was quieter. I think it sounds pretty nice inside now with the downpipe. Still has that little bit of loudness around 2k, but its not bad.

Wow, that's odd. I can have my stereo up around 10-12 to the point where you couldn't have a conversation with someone in the car and I can still hear the exhaust with light acceleration in 1-4 gears.

Do your tips rub up against the inner part of the bumper at all? Mine are barely touching in both sides, so that's what I'm going to try and do next. Thinking maybe the vibrations are carrying through the whole cabin.

That's pretty terrible. I was thinking I'd put in the diamond mats and then have the regular Stinger mats on top of those. But how quickly those are wearing out in concerning.

No mine don’t touch. The cheap cdn~$200 CF Akrapovic tips 63in 75x105out are a perfect fit.. @westcoastGT :geek: drove my car a few weeks ago maybe he can chime in on the sound compared to his stock exhaust;)

Sexy ! and a nice subtle increase in exhaust note , no drone ...................although the "plastic" window did not allow a perfect testing environment ..................................

With new exhaust being less restrictive. are you seeing performance gains even minimally?

Hard to say since I already have a few mods and I’m up and down between map 2 and 5 depending on what juice I’m running. But one thing for sure I love the sound on both up and down shifts. I could never go back to stock.

I got my exhaust at 1300 on a Thursday and by 1700 it was hung and I was driving. Freight beat my box up a bit, I bought it from K8...
I immediately took the car out and beat on it for a about 10 miles. I didn't notice anything on that drive and I ended up parking it for the night. I did however love the sound. Best exhaust clips I heard out of the dozens that have been posted. Minimal drone if any, and really wakes up on WOT. The next day it hit me, I think the computer was still learning the change and it's adjustment was applied the following day. It definitely woke it up a bit. After that I installed HKM Denso plugs @ .022" and the car is still pulling really hard. With intakes and intercooler already installed the JB4 is next :)

I like this comment - first time out with the Mrs with BMS intakes and not a peep :)

I could never go back to stock.

I like this comment more

Oh god i need this exhaust I think i'm getting younger almost back to my 20's with these mods :) and why not the car responses very well!
