COVID-19 CHAOS BY COPS

I've read most of the replies in this thread and all I can say is how it is working here in North Carolina. You can drive at will without fear of being stopped. I can also say that if I am simply going out for a relaxing drive (to keep my sanity) there is no way that I am contributing to the spread of the virus. That is plain and simple b******t and anyone being ticketed is only being done so for purposes of revenue. End of story.

"Am I personally willing to accept minor inconveniences to possibly limit the spread of this disease in my community"

Exactly. So many people still think the rules don't apply to them, or don't give damn because it "infringes on their rights"..

They put these "rules" in place because there is people with some commonsense and then there is morons, so the rules become more stringent as the morons continue to push the limits. And the cops (like health workers) are just doing their best to protect the all the non-morons from virus spread in the limited capacity that they can. Give them a break, these rules are changing as fast for them, as us.

But this guy says it the best way ... and again "any delicate flowers" just don't hit the play button and you won't be offended,

Stay well everyone.

Despite having made my position clear earlier, I'm going to "put my oar in" again.

Limiting the inalienable right to travel because of "morons not following the rules" is a CRAP excuse for a blatant power grab. That can be (and is) used as an excuse anytime for any set of "reasons".

And anyone complaining at first then meekly staying out of sight deserves everything that the power grabbers force on them. This is an overreaction that has produced overreach by gov'ts everywhere. And they are enabling each other to enforce the modern meme, "This is the new normal. Life will never be the same as yesterday." Oh, really.

The death rate following this in the WORST outbreaks is puny; it targets the already ill (unhealthy) and 99% of those who die already had some serious health issues. Many (an undisclosed number) are listed as COVID-19 victims when they tested positive and died of something already killing them. Latest ludicrous Neewz release this morning was a newborn baby died and tested positive. WTH is that supposed to mean? So, the newborn caught it from the mother, sure, what else? Is this supposed to be listed as a COVID-19 casualty? Absolutely not.

Vis-à-vis "risking health professionals and police and emergency people." I call B******T on that too. They are ALL perfectly capable of avoiding this disease by sanitizing their hands, working with disposable gloves and NOT TOUCHING THEIR FACES; just like everybody else. There is no way that anyone responding to an accident (motorist or whathaveyou) is going to catch this from the aerosol unless the accident victim is already infected and contagious; and even then, out in the open there is virtually zero chance of anyone catching it from them breathing, coughing or sneezing. There will not be a "close and sustained" exposure to aerosol: if a paramedics van is required, they'll slap a face mask on the victim pronto anyway; and there goes any minor risk while cooped up in the van. All responders are equipped with sanitizing gear.

So, give us a break from the altruistic, "it's only a temporary inconvenience", crap. And putting some kind of guilt trip on someone who insists on staying mobile and in possession of his/her civil rights. We are not careless, selfish or wicked because we hold the certainty that this is a perfect storm set of conditions to lose a lot of our freedom for no other reason than too many of us allowed it to happen.

Recent injunction in the UK, from the top (PM) no less: "Just because the weather is turning fine is no excuse to leave lockdown. Stay off the beaches and streets. If you have a garden of your own, you can enjoy that." (words that effect) And social Medía response was heavily, "Screw that!" Accompanied by calls to engage in mass "civil disobedience" and flood the streets and said-beaches. I would love to see that happen, but don't expect it. Sheeple outnumber individual thinkers. This is true also in far too many places in the US.

And now the Prez is echoing the calls for more self-isolation and warning that the coming weeks are going to get worse and be very bad. What happened to his certainty that letting us decide how to handle this for ourselves is best? He's just watching how the winds of opinion and public sentiment are blowing; and that's how he'll go with this. I am not that surprised, but I am disappointed. And I will decide for myself.

Rules are rules, if your told to stay home, do so.

Rulers make the rules. If the people don't make their rules, somebody else will.

Die then, no offense :)
None taken.

If I got this, statistically I have an 81% chance of a mild case. But since I think I already had it in February, I'm already good to go. If I am unlucky I'll be in the 10% that needs to visit a hospital; c. 2,3% need to go on a ventilator; and the great majority of those come off the ventilator. The death rate is puny compared to total cases. And, "You Only Die Once."

Well I just got back from a 3 hour trip in the hills on my Yamaha MT-09. No enforceable lock down rules in WA. You people need to get out and live. Good to see the infringement for the learner driver was overturned. At least one person in Victoria has some common sense.

Yeh and you have never broken any rules in your life.

Yeh so once again everyone else suffers for the minority. How Australian that is. And enough of the 'Stay at home' videos from celebrities. As if they live normal lives anyway. They can stick their messages where the sun doesn't shine thank you.

I'll just assume you mean "morons" are the minority in your statement, and God I hope they are. Then I agree with you.
That PSA vid, I did precurse not to hit play ... but I though this one was particularly funny and worth the share.
Time to relax ... maybe go for a drive?

Still have to go to work, still have to function and adult. If I take a couple of miles to engage in some right-foot therapy in the process.. So be it. As for the rest of this conversation.. Eventually, this thing will be brought under control..But, I'm beginning to have some concerns over what society will look like on the other side. Not sure everyone has that same concern or even cares.

Basically here in Vic, they want you to stay in your own " neighbourhood ", if I went three quarters of an hour away to the Corio shops and got pulled over by the police they would probably fine me because of ' unnecessary ' travel when there are shops down the road in the suburb I live in.
As much as I would like to take Sonic for a spin up the road, I don't want to risk it, there are police cars everywhere at the moment. So I do what is required and only go out for shopping, work and exercise ( at least I can walk my dogs ).
According to the police update they are going to employ the PSO's around Melbourne and here in Geelong to do " nightshifts " to check on business properties and make people feel safe...............humm! sounds like an unofficial ' Curfew ' to me ?.....

Depends what country you live in as to how the Powers that be handle civil disobedience. If you go out in numbers in the Philippines, I saw a news clip where the Police commander is ordering a ' shoot to kill ' so the Sheep will behave because they don't want to end up as ' Lamb chops '

No trip to Adelaide these holidays accomadation refunded. Looks like ill explore the upper reaches of the back garden, haven't been up there for three years. Hopefully the snakes are self isolating.

Philippines. Heh!? That place is borderline lockdown all the time anyway. No comparison to the Free World. Multiple examples can be appealed to in Asia and the Middle East, Africa, South America, etc.

Yes, things are definitely worse elsewhere. So, is that some kind of pass when a governor in the US applies total lockdown on the entire State? When s/he says, "Put a mask on that five-year-old child or you'll be fined a thousand dollars", is that okay? When people are AFRAID to drive a couple of miles out of their way, is that okay?

There is NO scientific basis for any of these draconian orders/commands/pronouncements/dictations. The science is the same for COVID-19 as for any other virus or bacteria: you only get it if you put it in by touching your face after contaminating your hands; inside a room, the risk begins only if you are in "close, sustained contact" with someone(s) aerosoling the virus; you won't catch this by talking to someone a few feet away, or even within touching distance if you don't stand there exchanging CO2 for fifteen to thirty minutes. Disinfect your hands when you touch something that someone else could have touched. The virus would be DEAD worldwide if everyone practiced this simple preventive and cautionary spacing in public. There would be no hosts, and in less than two weeks there would be no COVID-19 outside of animals anywhere on Planet Earth.

But this isn't about sensibility and freedom from fear. This is an opportunity for control freaks everywhere; and they are in communication via social Medía at the very least: "taking each others' temperature", as it were, to see how far they can push The People where they live. The cops will respond in kind.

I can't tell whether this is a high level troll or not, but nice job regardless.

Have you read anything else I've posted? How about that "thread" that compares doctors' observations? Conflicting expert information I am sure that even "high level trolls" don't knock themselves out like this.:p

Stay safe, man. Keep an eye out for those black helicopters: they're comin' to getcha! :ninja:
