COVID-19 CHAOS BY COPS

No doubt on the high level of debatibility here. But no matter what you tell people on "how to" (on anything mind you), alot still wont give a two s**ts, let alone get hold of some paper to wipe it off. So governments have to attempt to put rules in place to help this be defeated. I still believe it is a power play too. But however you see it ... it is essentially why communities have governments in the first place ... to govern this sort of s**t. If just left to "the people" we'd all be truly f**ked!

In the US, the government is left to the people. As taken from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, "...and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." It is when government is taken from the people that we will truly be done.

If you take care of yourself you have nothing to worry about. The stooped will "perish from the earth", not our form of gov't (up here).

Reasonably intelligent people can get this easily enough: The Virus won't get you if you follow the "rules". Number one, sanitize your hands when you touch things that others touch in public; Number two, don't touch your face between times (everyone has to touch their face; to say, "Never touch your face" is just impossible); Number three, avoid "sustained, close contact".

That's IT. Simple, even easy peasy. The virus won't get YOU if you don't let it in.

A mass education campaign to push this would kill off the pandemic in very short order: instead of these crap power grabbers enjoying their moment of glorious attention as "saviors" (in between telling us that we're all in for it), they should be pushing hygiene, hygiene, hygiene to kill this thing off by denying it hosts. But then, they wouldn't be in charge of anything anymore.

I'm not terribly excited by it all currently. Maybe I should be. The whole response seems quite Orwellian at times. The redundant, constant, persistent, and prolific "stay at home" messaging can be unnerving to some.

Good to see New South Wales finest are keeping up with the Victoria cops for the most stupidest fines of this crisis. A man was fined $1000 for being outside walking in Bathurst. Obviously there is no real crime in this town so police must be targeting the general public going about their usual business. On another note, I was at the shops today waiting outside Target for my wife. I was sitting on a bench at a shut cafe and was told by a security officer that you are not allowed to sit down in the shopping centre. I was however allowed to stand and wait. WTF. Who knew sitting down would cause the spread of COVID-19.

So far 50 people have died from this COVID-19 in Australia. It's unnerving the draconian way the governments have acted in relation to attempting to reduce the deaths and the number of cases of this virus. The closing of most small businesses, instant unemployment for thousands, on the spot fines for people out driving/walking/at the beach. Never before used terms like social distancing becoming the norm. Basically every ones civil liberties ignored for the sake of flattening the curve. And lets not forget destroying the economy of this country like never before. Wait till we get that hangover.
And yet approx 24000 people die each year in Australia from smoking related illnesses. You're not telling me this isn't a strain on the health system in this country. This is every year. 24000 last year, 24000 this year, 24000 next year. Not just a one off like this virus. How does the COVID-19 even compare to this. And yet the government does nothing to stop the production and selling of this filthy product. Oh that's right, they get substantial income from the taxes. And this is the same government you trust in relation to this crisis. Good luck to you.

Smoking is a slow killer for those who smoke - and won't affect others once outside of their passive smoke/polluted air.

But a pandemic is an exponential problem because people are infectious without even knowing it - and potentially infecting surfaces they've touched hours beforehand - and then i could then later touch.

Yes most people could survive convid just the flu. But it's that smaller percentage that will need hospitalization all at once which is going to be a massive number for the healthcare system to deal with.

If there was no social distancing / public shutdowns then we'd be all completely f**ked.

We are all in new territory with this pandemic, if we cannot trust & abide by what the people who represent us at this time of this health crisis then we may as well forget being a modern law abiding society & allow anarchy to prevail & just make it a survival of the fittest world to live in.
Remember, these impositions that have been placed on us are “short term” measures aimed at stopping this virus dead in its tracks so it can die out without any host bodies for it to thrive.
I for one agree with these current measures & as a cancer patient still being monitored for my treatment I am very aware that I’m susceptible to catching this virus & I also have to consider my son-in-law who has Cystic Fibrosis, both us would struggle greatly trying to fight/survive it.
So to sum up, let’s just all suck it up, take our medicine & we will all get through this together & in time it will be used as a “remember when” moment in all our lives.
God bless all the front line Medical Staff who are putting themselves at risk everyday.

Wouldn’t have just been for walking because exercise is a reasonable excuse, there’ll be more to it than what the media reports but the truth doesn’t sell papers and as a cop you should know the media doesn’t let the truth get in the way of a good story especially when it involves police.
Yes NSW and Vic are enforcing more than other states but they also have the biggest populations and the most cases so they need to get a handle on it or the health system will shit itself.
In my area there are 2 public hospitals, only 1 has ICU beds and then it only has 6. If we get a mass outbreak here then we’re well and truly stuffed.
WA isn’t immune the whole State is on lockdown and even residents can’t cross the border without an exemption from the Government. If you don’t like it don’t issue the tickets but don’t bag those of us on the east coast just because you disagree.
Oh and as for sitting down spreading the virus, someone who’s infected sits down, sneezes into their hand then touches the seat to get up. The virus can survive on hard surfaces for a few hours so the next person who isn’t infected sits there, gets contaminated and then touches their face unwittingly and they become infected and so on and so on. That’s why the health department recommends not letting people sit on park benches etc

Very true. I suckered for a piece of clickbait yesterday. The title went something like this: "Man fined over $1,000 for transporting his bicycle to biking trail." Well, the title omitted two essentials that would have destroyed the clickbait quality: one, this took place in Australia (who in the US would care?); and two, the officious cop who told the man, "take a run around your neighborhood instead of unnecessary, forbidden, driving", had exceeded his authority in the opinion of his superior officers, and the fine was rescinded. So, NO STORY HERE, move along. Heh.

This isn't an "automotive" board; Sal's idea. But, this started out as an automotive thread, sort of. :P

I just now realized that I didn't notice that this thread is not on the Corona Virus Board. So, in that light, I'll add an American example that is getting out of hand:

And from the State that "leads the Nation", sunny KALIFOЯNIA:
Los Angeles sees crowds violating stay-at-home order to watch illegal street racing: report

You see, what happens when such a sweeping overreach as a State-wide lockdown goes on for more than a week, people start getting really angry. This will only increase in any part of the world where civil rights are being subverted in the name of saving lives. Life ends up not being worth living when civil rights are taken away, either through punishment or the fear of it.

I've read most of the replies in this thread and all I can say is how it is working here in North Carolina. You can drive at will without fear of being stopped. I can also say that if I am simply going out for a relaxing drive (to keep my sanity) there is no way that I am contributing to the spread of the virus. That is plain and simple b******t and anyone being ticketed is only being done so for purposes of revenue. End of story.
I think it’s spelled “Bull:poop::thumbup:

They put these "rules" in place because there is people with some commonsense and then there is morons, so the rules become more stringent as the morons continue to push the limits. And the cops (like health workers) are just doing their best to protect the all the non-morons from virus spread in the limited capacity that they can. Give them a break, these rules are changing as fast for them, as us.

But this guy says it the best way ... and again "any delicate flowers" just don't hit the play button and you won't be offended,

Stay well everyone.
He could have given it to us straight. I didn’t think he had to sugarcoat his position so much.

You are completely wrong to think this activity is an angry reaction to the statewide lockdown. It's completey unrelated and has little if anything to do with anger. Reactions to an event don't start decades before the event. Street racing has been going on forever in SoCal. Just last year these bozos took over the major intersections closest to my home and to a friend's home north or here. That's why LAPD and many other local PDs have had street racing task forces for years. So don't use a longtime activity to dis our state's policies concerning the current crisis.

We don't need street racing to dis the Guv's Statewide lockdown. You don't think those "violators" of his supreme wisdom are angry? If they agreed with the lockdown, they'd be home in large numbers instead of acting as if nothing has changed. (I wonder why "street racing task forces" cops weren't mentioned in the story?)

Just heard 2 street racers got caught over night they did 104kmh over the limit . 184 in a 80 zone. An Audi S3 and and a Ford Focus Rs i believe.

Automatic loss of license and a court appearance Monday. 35 years ago the cops would join in and chat afterwards. ...well some would:laugh:
