Any documentation on that? Mobil is just rebranded Esso, and all tiers of Esso gas contain ethanol. No where on the Esso.ca site does it ever state premium is ethonal free. Not seen any stickers on the pumps either.

I have to admit I can't find anything online that states its ethanol free. I was going by the information given by the attendant after I asked if their 91 fuel was ethanol free as their are no stickers saying contains up to 10% ethanol and he replied it was free of ethanol. I apologize for the miss information. Continue treating it as ethanol blended until proven otherwise.

No need to apologize, I've been trying to find out for a while if Esso premium is ethanol free. They don't respond to questions on it.

Pioneer in Oshawa had Premium for $1.11/L , but is it good ? I'm sure it has to pass std. etc.. but it is good enough to use and close enough to top brands, for the price difference ?
It's usually in the $1.20's range, but low today. I was full so didn't fill up there.

Shell, Canadian tire, Costco seem like safe 91 options. All Canadian 94 is watered down in Ontario

Prices are about to drop, (huge excess in the system ) Hopefully it will hold low for a while

Just found this on the Husky FAQ page:

"
I don't think I can use ethanol-blended fuel in my vintage car. Am I right?

Older fuel systems in vintage and classic cars could contain natural rubber or synthetic rubber much less compatible with today's fuels than the materials used in modern fuel systems. Usually, however, older cars have already had most fuel system components replaced. For those vehicles that have not replaced their fuel system components, Husky's Premium 91 in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba does not contain ethanol."

I recently did a round trip of 227 kms. Maybe 5 kms of that were city, calm driving.

I re-filled to full to do the math on the fuel used. OH, Using 87 octane in last two tanks for reference and comparing... I'm switching back to premium. Will do the same round trip to compare. I think a mix of Pioneer and Costco 87 was in the tank. (likely stick to Costco mostly)

The Temp was Cold. I forget. around zero (freezing). It was this past Friday from Bowmanville to Belleville Casino for Brunch and Back (ha, and we played only 10 slots and won 35 and got out of there before we lost it), so we got our gas a few bucks to spare.. Cheap lunch.

My trip / fuel econo gauge thing said, by the time I got back, it came down to 9.3L /100kms... I did the math and it was correct.

I used approx. 21L. It takes a while for the system to calculate and your actual economy to be registered, but it seems it caught up to it by the time I got back. I don't know why it can't give that figure within 5 or 15 mins from setting it on cruise. It seems it Does Not have an "instant" or "current" fuel economy option to select.
it always starts high and slowly comes down to what you're doing. It took almost two hours to go from 10.5 to 10 to 9.9 to 9.8, 9.7, 9.6....until it reached 9.3 very close to home.

I assume since I only have 8K kms on it, and it's cold out, the hwy cruising consumption can get under 9.0L /100 kms when engine is broken in a wee bit more and temps are above 10 degrees... I hope. Would be nice.
I don't think it would have gone lower than that. Maybe .1 at best more, cause I did actually use 9.3L /100kms.
Odd why it can't conclude the rate of consumption faster.
My 2011 Santa fe had option to see current mpg, as did my previous 2008 Impala.

Anyone have any fuel ratings for pure steady hwy from their Stinger ?

Got this response from Esso about ethanol content:

SynergyTM- branded gasoline does contain ethanol, as do the far majority of all gasoline (regular, midgrade & premium) in Canada. Here are the ethanol percentages found in the fuel sold at our branded retail service stations:

  • Regular unleaded gasoline (Octane 87) at selected locations contains 10% ethanol (ERUL or E10)
  • Midgrade gasoline (Octane 89) at locations with E10 contains 5% ethanol (midgrade is a blend of regular and premium gasoline)
  • Premium unleaded gasoline (Octane 91) does not contain ethanol
  • Supreme + gasoline (Octane 93 is only available at certain location) contains 10% ethanol
  • Diesel gasoline does not contain ethanol.

All pumps at our branded retail service stations have a sticker that clearly state "May contain up to 10% ethanol"; however, the below provinces/territories don’t have ethanol:

  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland
  • Northwest Territories
  • Nova Scotia
  • Prince Edward Island
  • Yukon

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you.

Looks like you were correct. Esso finally responded and stated their premium is ethanol free. They keep that well hidden.

Thanks for verifying the information Hockster on Esso premium fuel. Glad its ethanol free as I have been using it since day one on that premises.

Here in Montreal Quebec the Ultramar brand premium does not contain ethanol either, because at the pump only regular and mid grade states that it may contain up to 10% ethanol but not the premium.

Thx for the info Hockster. I use 91 octane from Esso, just to collect points so I could use their advanced touchless Premium car wash which does an amazing job.

I will be on a dyno, once I get my car lol. Planning on purchasing within the next 4 weeks. Already have MBRP catback, AEM intakes, GFB BoV's, plugs, OCC, and a JB4 sitting in my garage. At some point during the summer I'll probably drive down to Seattle and get a Tork tune.

What part of BC are you from the lower mainland, I believe TOrk is 6 hrs for me here in Kelowna:)
