Yup, they are just a bit too short to cover the whole wrap, and i wanted to secure the rolls to the tips, otherwise they will work their way out over time.

I got my MBRP today and to be installed next Friday. I also got the 63mm x 89mm tips.
Just to see, I tried slipping the tips onto the exhaust however I was not able to get them over the pipe. It seems like the diameters of both the exhaust and the tips are nearly identical.
Are they supposed to be this difficult to slip on?

I used 63mmx89mm had no issues. Just loosened them up pretty good then pushed on

Well shit... I'm afraid my tips didnt quite hit spec...

I had this same issue with 2.5" inlet tips I got off amazon, looked like the akropovic style, they were the exact size as the mbrp pipe. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of retrofitting or ordering new ones, so I stayed with the stock tips and added the wrap.
Perhaps MBRP started using a bigger pipe in their more recent versions? 2.5" ID vs 2.5" OD?

I did some research online and it seems pretty common to stretch a tip a bit. It does have slots in the end where it seems it would accommodate this. Hopefully the shop can handle it.

yeah, if you get a slotted tip, you can tweak it out a bit, the ones I got were not slotted, they used a set screw type connection vs the band clamp style. Once I saw the exhaust mounted, and how they weren't exactly centered, i figured gettign the tips to work well would tke a lot more adjusting of the mounts and brackets, and could put undampened pressure on the rear fascia panel, leading to rattling or buzzing, seemed like a can of worms I didnt want to open. New tips woulda looked nice though.

This makes me feel much, much better. I've never really bought an aftermarket part for a car before and it took me quite a while to find a shop that was willing to trim the diffuser as well, so I'd hate everything to go to shit because I ordered something incorrectly.
Also, I think the specs on the tips inlet I bought were measured on OD, instead of ID, so i don't think the MBRP is to blame for changing sizes.
In any case, it's a learning experience and nothing some additional money thrown at it won't fix.

If anybody wants some exhaust wrap I've got a couple rolls that I ended up not using. It's pretty dang nice titanium lava wrap. PM me if interest, plz.

I’m all set and loving it! Had it installed by a local mechanic for $175. Had him change the oil while there too. Car sounds great! Not too loud but enough to really growl when stepping on it. Drove around 40 mile joyride and the drone isn’t a bother to me thus far. I didn’t notice any rattling or banging. At this point I won’t be wrapping or putting tips on it. I am not the best source to take advice from on the drone as I Have tinnitus bilaterally so I already have enough “drone”going on in my head already...
Just did the exhaust wrap mod and the drone is way, way down. Was really skeptical about it, but now am a firm believer. Not sure how these will hold up long term, so may still swap out the tips in the future. But for now, wrap mod makes the wait for new tips bearable.

Installed mine today finally for the wifey's car. Love it. Didn't notice any particular drone or bad vibes. Went with the oval Akra Tips. Install was ok. Not the best fitment though, the tips are touching the rear valence a bit some areas. Didn't notice any ill effects yet.

Just ordered my MBRP.
Looking to purchase the Borla Exhaust Tips instead of the Akrapovic for aesthetics reasons. However, I heard from Nick Borla tips are less effective than the Akrapovic tips.
Should I also look into getting a shop to weld a cross brace to stabilize the LH & RH pipes? Anything available in the market that I can just mount to support the pipes instead of welding?

The Borla tips are fake tips, just like the OEM. They simply mount to the diffuser. Crazy expensive for something so stupid. I had the owner of one of the stinger parts stores (won't name which one) vehemently tell me that all tips did the same thing, which was utter bullshit info.
My MBRP is being installed on Friday. I am going to have them stabilize by any means necessary.

Appreciate the response! Yeah, I just prefer the look of the Borla but the cost is absurd - the shop I go to might be able to custom make exhaust tips for my car. Hoping this is the case and they can come up with something rad and effective.
Let me know what your shop comes up with to stabilize the pipes!

Finally got my exhaust today after months of waiting. Install was super easy and done in about an hour and a half. Exhaust is super quiet...almost too quiet and absolutely no drone with the exhaust tips thankfully
So nervous with how loud it would be - I mean I like aggressive but not during my 5am morning coffee drive
