FAQ: Vibration under braking: warped rotors? NO!

You are seriously awesome

What pads are a good middle ground for a daily driver. I don't want noise or dust but I don't want vibrations even more. Mild dust with quiet would be my preference if such a thing exists.
I wanted the same thing and Cquence recommended The Akebono ceramic pads I listed in post #492. They eliminated my shutter, make no noise and very little brake dust. Great investment and I have been recommending them to every Stinger owner I know.

I followed the link in post 492 to Akebono Performance Ultra Premium ceramic pads. It goes to the Akebono site and I followed that to the web catalog (to see which pads fit the Kia Stinger); however there is not a listing for application on the Stinger. Stungblue - what part numbers did you order? did you get front or back or both?

They arent specifically made for our Stinger yet but Houston at Cquence recommended the ASP1001 pads and they fit our OEM Brembo rotors.Akebono® ASP1001 - Performance™ Ultra-Premium Ceramic Front Brake Pads
I only got the fronts since rears weren’t available when I did them. Luckily most of the stopping power is done with the front brakes so that solved my shuttering problem and they work amazing.

The only options I see for a 2019 is CTS and XTS Cadillac. Is it one of those that will fit our Stinger? I have a GT1

The “choose vehicle“ option on most websites won’t work since they arent made specifically for our Stingers. I believe that model number “asp1001” is the one that fits our Brembos. You can reach out to Houston at Cquence to confirm as he is the one that suggested them and I bought mine from him directly.

Got some but thanks for the tip!

My 2018 Canadian Stinger GT Limited with 29000KM (about 18K miles) on it doesn't have any problems whatsoever with its brakes, no pulsating, no dust, no noise, and the front pads are still at 70% thickness. So I'm wondering about all of those who have had such problems with their Brembo brakes on their Stingers? I've read that in some countries like the USA, Kia might have equipped the Stinger with lesser quality pads than in some other ones. But since I'm in Canada, I was expecting to have the same as in the US, but perhaps not? How can I identify what type of stock pads my Stinger has? (I suspect ceramic ones?)

I had issues with my 2018 GT2 brakes for about 5 months. The shuddering always came back no matter how I drove the vehicle. I have since switched to a different front brake pad and the shuddering is 100% gone. However it is replaced with a squeak which I will take over the horrible feeling of the car shuddering. It could be because I didn't grease up the rear of the pads or that could just be the nature of the pads I got.

Part number should do it.

These are my Canadian front pads.
The are worn about 40%, 60% remain at 40k kms.

I am on my 4th set of rotors and have 40k Kms.

These are the only number I saw on the pads

4th set of rotors after only 40k Kms?? Ouch!
I'm still on my first set!

As for the parts number for the pads, I guess I'll know mine when I'll take them out to replace them...

MP1001 from Giro Disc. End all and be all for best and quiet discs for the Stinger.

You mean brake pads, not discs, right?

I had mild brake pedal pulsating on occasions, a few heavy brake applications usually rectified it, but I normally change out my rotors on cars @ 40,000kms with dba, I just did mine a little earlier at 33,500kms, I also changed out pads with dba’s XP up front & SP on the rears.
Couldn’t be happier, brake application is smooth & positive under foot, no hint of pulsating/cavitation at all, I highly recommend this type of upgrade.

Agreed, I have these pads and absolutely love everything about them. Better bite, stopping power and hopefully never have to deal with the brake vibrations again.

Very nice rotors. Where’d you buy and what did it cost? PM the links?

Does anyone know if the front giro disc pads should come with dampers
