Hello friends,
I'm looking for a 2019 GT2, and thanks to the tips on this forum I plan to do the lease-then-buyout route. However the dealers that I called are downright incompetent on leasing - many misquote on the incentive for 24 month lease, and some even flatly deny that 24 month lease exist. To save some time I changed my tactic to negotiate a cash deal, and once they give me enough discount on a cash deal, I then attempt for a lease quote.
However this didn't seem to work. I got a dealer to quote me a very attractive price for cash deal (~$6k dealer discount, plus the $4k Kia rebate, and just $400 doc fee, no VIN etching crap). But once I say I want to lease instead, they flatly refuse to give me the same dealer discount and can only give me $3k, saying "there are different rebates involved, you can't mix-and-match like that"
Is that true? Are there secret dealer rebate for cash purchase that give them more leeway to give out bigger discount?
(Another red flag for that dealer is they refused to quote me 24 month lease but only give me 39 month, claiming this gives me the best deal. Oh well. Dealers gotta lie.)
