What did you pay for your Kia Stinger?

Received my 2019 GT from Joe Myers Kia in Houston and I did not explore the SA/Austin market. I mass emailed all the dealers in Houston what I was willing to pay. Most of the dealers confirmed there was no ballon option so they were not able to get prices as competitive. Balloon option allowed me to capture all the rebates (good credit required).I was given the option to do a small down payment however, was not required. I did not actually need a car so there was no rush and was easy to walk away if I did not get my price. Good luck!

Thank you! Seems like Joe Myers is the way to go then. Based on their website they have 15 stingers on the lot, so I am sure they are looking to push em.

No problem. let us know the outcome!

Awesome that's what I like to hear, thank you for your input. Yea, seems like most dealerships in Austin will only be willing to part it at high-end KBB value. Kia of South Austin also tried to push a 3k protection package on me.

If you don't mind me asking - Is your Stinger the '19 or '20 model?

Edit: Also to add, I noticed that they tried to push a tax break onto you for a lease buyout. Did you stay firm with the balloon financing route? If I go the lease-buyout I may get a tax break but I would still run into issues refinancing with my CU.

Kia of South Austin are the worst ones out of the lot, they try to push paint protection, nitrogen tires etc etc. I would never visit them again.

Southwest Kia tried to talk me into tax break stuff but I was somehow apprehensive about it and went ahead with the balloon option in Houston.

Yea, Kia of S. Austin did the same to me and added their "protection package" on my quote, then dodged my question when I asked if I could have that taken off - that's a big red flag for me so no way am I dealing with them.

Did Southwest KIA even offer balloon financing or were they solely wanting you to lease (with tax break)?

The deals are definitely out there!!
Mine has everything the gts comes with.
The 35,000 was the sticker not including anything else of course but still a great deal.

Just negotiate on the price of the car, then after that’s settled, say you’d like to balloon finance (if they offer it). You’ll get the lease rebates and be set with low monthly payments from either KMF or the dealers 3rd party lender of choice. Then turn around and pay it off cash, or refinance with your bank or credit union. Refinance should be fairly straight forward, as it’s just refinancing a loan already in your name, as opposed to the bank buying out a lease which is not in your name.

Does anyone know if balloon financing is available in NC? I have never heard of it before. Are the interest rates usually good for balloon financing?

No the rates are pure shit. It’s a low payment plan where you owe tons at the plan. Like $10-20k cash.
In most states it is considered a predatory lending practice, and therefore banned.

Use balloon ONLY if you plan to pay off loan right away or to refinance else where.

Thanks for the replies on balloon financing. So the only real reason is to make sure you get all the discounts including the lease discount? I assume I could just lease it then to get the same discount..or at least the lease discount. So after I lease the car I would just refinance it thru my credit union or somewhere for what amount? Would it be the amount that is due at the lease end? Sorry for these dumb questions but I have bought a dozen cars over my life but have never leased one so I am not exactly sure how they work. I know from a friend's experience that they had to stay under a certain mileage and they paid some kind of penalty or fee when they turned it in at the end of the lease, but I don't know anyone that actually bought out their lease..let alone shortly after they started the lease.

Hello all,
I sifted through this forum before making a purchase and after trading my car for a great deal I finally purchase my first KIA. I got a 2020 GT1 in Panthera metal for 41,776 after taxes/fees. Let me know if this deal was alright since I did get a better offer for a 2019 GT2 but not in the color scheme I preferred and farther out.

The Kia dealer near me wanted $45k for a 2019 GT2. So I went and got a 2018 GT2 for $14k. Granted it is salvage and has 16k miles on it but that is not really a problem. At least I don't have to worry about voiding the warranty with mods, I am the warranty now.

I would say you did pretty well. Where do you live? Here in Seattle, we have GT1s at our dealers marked up to $50-51K. Outrageous.

VERY! Does the gt1 have the sideview mirrors tilting in reverse?
I have a 2018 GT2 and I think it has the tilting mirrors. It has a backup cam at least. That's what I use mostly. However I don't drive it that much since it's in no shape to drive lol. My 2012 Acura has tilting mirrors lol.
