I went with the K&N CAI. It's sounds amazing. Actually made me not care about changing exhaust as much (I still am). The install was really simple and it looks pretty nice. I might take out the shrouds and paint them when I paint the engine cover and the aluminum braces.20191206_100334.webp

I debated on a few intake systems before I decided on my DIY intakes with heat shielding.

I love them! Great turbo sounds, better throttle response and nice gains especially over 5k rpm. I admit the heat shielding doesn’t look nearly as good as the professional CAIs, but they work as well if not better than some others. Still can’t believe the complete DIY CAI system only cost about $100 total and recommend them to everyone that has a Stinger.

Do those Spectre filters have the metal cap in the middle of the element? If so, I highly suggest ditching them and moving to a more robust filter like K&N. I had one of those caps dislodge and get sucked into the intake on my Regal. The only reason it didn't destroy my supercharger (and possibly my engine) is because the throttle body screen stopped it. It came in with enough velocity to completely trash the screen and I shudder to what that'd to to a turbocharger impeller spinning at thousands of RPMs.

I love my AEM intake, and I love to show it off...

Larger aFe filters. Reflective heat tape. Sounds great, great performance. Great price. Love it.

We might as well have a picture of the popular choice.F4D61D67-8E08-40AC-9316-C30B3552E988.webp

Man they look so nice. I just cant get past the no heat sheild thing.

You could always Fab up a heat shield with some big aluminum sheets. Cut it to size and shape and mount at the base of the filter or something. Would be quite a bit of cutting and measuring, but after adding some rubber molding around the edges you could have a pretty dang nice and effective heat shield. Probably would weigh less than the AEM kit I bet, despite having those heavier aluminum elbows.

Just a thought.

Started with an $80 DIY kit with Spectre filters, then bought a Johnny Tig kit off another member on this forum.

DIY and completely happy with it.

Put the other $400+ it would cost to buy an intake kit towards my BOVs.

This where I'm at now...got injen on last weekend and now thinking heat protection of some sort. That and possibly those air snorkles, but no idea how to the bumper off of the front end

Anyone ever put heat shielding around the injen? Also, thinking of some wrapping around the tubes. They seemed awfully warm this afternoon and it was only in the low to mid 70,s. Much warmer weather coming. Although I know the heat is mostly coming from within, last week when it was much cooler so were the intake tubes. My kid now has a temperature gun so I could do some measurements now.

I still haven't purchased intakes , waiting to see if I can get the JB4 straight. I still think I am leaning toward agency.
All plastic
Good filters
Heat sheild
Good hp gains
Questionable fitment and expensive

Injen is my favorite if it had heat sheilds. I'm also thinking about injen and making my own heat sheilds out of plastic trash cans. Something like this

I'm surprised I've yet to see single person use or talk about the HPS intakes?

People have mentioned them before but they just seemed like a poor copy of the top selling intakes with less heat shielding so nobody was really interested.

Really liking the trash can method. Doesn't even look half bad, least on that dude's truck
Appreciate the link
Got about two months to figure this out before it starts getting hot out

Now my JB4 is installed and working properly, next is intake. I think I am going agency but waiting a few months also. I would like to see AFE make a intake.

In fact, wife and kid out of town so may be looking hard at some . trash can heat shields.....if it works, mAybe some of that heat reflective material goes on the outside?
