What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

I broke my new Stinger GT2 this morning. I opened the power hatch with the handle in the back. Then I pushed the power close button. The hatch closed and then immediately reopened. I hit the power close button again and again it closed, but then reopened. I tried all of the different power close buttons the car has available with the same result. I read the manual and finally decided to manually close the hatch. It stays closed but the dash indicates a problem in that the yellow back hatch led is blinking constantly. I tried to search the forum but nothing came up to help. And then I discovered I do not know how to open a new thread on this forum. I am not having a good Sunday morning!

First, what's in your trunk? If your trunk is full, check what is obstructing the hatch from fully closing. When you are using the power hatch feature, if it senses some kind of obstruction it will not fully latch and open back up.

Second, use the process of elimination to troubleshoot your issue.
1. Empty the trunk, remove the top cover then close the hatch. Does it close, without reopening, if so it's not broken.
2. Open the hatch and re-install the top cover properly then check if it closes without an issue. If it doesnt re check the top cover for alignment.
3. If both 1 and 2 works, organize the way you store your things in the trunk and make sure it doesnt push up against the top cover or remove the top cover completely.

Hope that helps

Don’t have the answer to your question but have you considered the stingerhaus winglets in gloss black? They look great on ceramic silver.

I did empty the trunk of everything, which was only a few recyclable grocery bags, but have not tried removing the cover, yet. I will give it a try. (A few moments later) A good idea to try this but it did not have any effect on the problem. So it sounds like I have either a sensor problem or the latching mechanism is failing for some reason.

Try unlocking the car first. Remember that if the car is locked and you are close to the trunk, it will automatically open.

Thanks, I have tried with it both locked and unlocked, door open and closed. None of these seem to matter.

Have you tried turning off the smart hatch feature to see if this makes a difference.

Only if you have it set to open that way, otherwise you could be standing there all day.

Makes the car look like it had a panel from a wrecker yard installed but couldn't afford to get it painted. Sorry, but posting here invites opinion..

Oh, dude... all good. lol. I don't mind opinion. I just wasn't sure what exactly you were referring to. Rest assured that I am no hater on personal opinions.

Today I installed new paddle shifter extensions.

I had the very bad idea to paint the OEM shifters in black to match the carbon fiber. I had no idea that removing that steering wheel airbag would be such a pain in the ass.

I will take a picture tomorrow in daylight, now its hard to see what it looks like.
