Best negotiation prices on 2019 GT2/GT1

I think best deals on this car are done via early lease buy out. I think you should look into it, some good info on it in this forum. It allows you to bypass the low residual, which I believe is artificially set low by Kia as a conservative estimate to not lose money at lease end, and the high money Factor/ interest rate, while still reaping the benefits of the high lease cash incentives they offer.

That's some lingo that I am not familiar with. Gonna have to do some research.

I test drove a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T AWD with Elite and Prestige packages. I really liked the interior, all the features, and the Siberian Ice exterior color paint. But they weren't even willing to do 10% off MSRP and I couldn't justify spending $47,000 on an already one year old car. There are a lot of 2019 G70s still on dealership lots near me so I thought a good deal could be had but my first experience seemed to indicate otherwise. I currently own three vehicles (I would sell one, maybe even two, of my current vehicles if I bought a new car) and I was in no rush to buy if I didn't feel the deal was right.

Yep. I just signed a deal for an effective ~29% off before tax (zero due at signing) for my GT2 awd

Wow, was that a 2019 or 2020 model year?

Nice, what'd you negotiate the selling price down to before incentives?

2019.

MSRP 53,445
SELLING PRICE 47,000
Lease cash 12,220

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
wow! I couldn't get dealers to bite on the 30th and 31st of Dec for less off!

Don't feel bad! Aggressive deals vary on region!

To be fair, I did travel 2600 miles (round trip) to get my car.
Been there done that, got blood clot to prove it . Totally worth it. Flew to Maryland to drive home my STI, and got a DVT on the nonstop drive back to central TX

My friend has a '15 WRX with decent seats (not as comfortable as Stinger imo). I'm guessing it's not the best thing to ride super long distance?

It was a 14’ hatch back, it was lowered and had loud exhaust with lots of drone. It was wonderful!!!
But I did immediately add dynamat to the whole interior as soon as I got home

Hi, new here, not the best deal but for CA not bad. 2019 RW GT2 41,000

Pretty good deal.
Thank you, I'm actually really happy with the car. I've been waiting for a good deal on a Stinger. It took me about 4 hours and on the phone with 3 different dealerships in CA but I got the price I was targeting on a 2019 GT2. I wish they had AWD but not many of the 19's left.

2019 GTS RWD
MSRP $45,270
Purchase Price $35,000

that was the best deal I could find with a purchase. I considered the lease buyout but I have some health issues and I did not want to deal with the extra paperwork and stress. I hope the the Stinger GTS's hold their value well since they only produced 800. We will see.I am excited!

I just wrapped up a lease on the 2019 GT2 from Covina. Citrus was slow in responding, unfortunately, and couldn't get to where I needed (there was basically zero back and forth, a take it or leave it deal). I ended up playing Downtown and Covina off of each other, and ended up with a pretty good deal from Covina. They wanted a higher money factor (0.00225 vs. 0.00185 from Downtown), but I managed to talk them down on both the MF and the cap cost. The lease incentive was also fantastic. Whole deal took about 30 minutes to negotiate, then 45 minutes to complete paperwork.

I had talked to about 8-10 dealerships when shopping. My quick notes on the experience with dealerships:

Carson - just bad. Went there after setting up to meeting with an internet sales guy. Ended up sitting around for 20 minutes and two sales people just ghosting on me. Told the manager off after he didn't give a shit, and left.

Alhambra - went in to test drive a GT1; sales guy came out, didn't introduce himself. Told him I wanted to check out the GT1. He opened it up and let me sit in it, but when I wanted to test drive it, he said the car blocking the GT1 had a dead battery, so I wouldn't be able to. Walked off.

Downtown - pretty busy. Managed to test drive the GT2 (first time driving it after Carson and Alhambra). Sales guy was nice enough. Sat down to talk; he basically got to down payment and monthly, and I told him I wasn't quite read to talk numbers yet (still doing research.) Couple days later, I did submit one of the Edmund's quote requests, and DTLA got back to me quick. Told them I had already agreed to an offer from Covina, and they asked for an opportunity to quote before signing. Unfortunately, they were closed before I was able to get back to them. Pretty transparent and open. They had a black/black GT2 I was considering; ultimately, ended up with the Pearl White from Covina.

Garden Grove - went to GG because they had a GT2 for $39,999 advertised; turned out it had over 5k miles, so not eligible for the lease. My internet sales person was busy, so manager helped me (Abby.) She was very pleasant, even double checked on the 5k threshhold. Ultimately, gave me a quick quote on a 2020. Overall, very pleasant experience at GG.

Citrus - communicated over email. Couldn't get a quote to where I needed to; they didn't counter my counter, just stuck to their initial offer which was around a $40k net cap on a '19 GT2.

Kirby - had a car advertised that I wanted, but when inquired, it was not available for lease as it was a demo. Said he could get me to a $36 net cap on a 2019 GT2, but didn't have any. Not sure if serious.

Car Pros HB - inquired on a RWD GT2, said they didn't have one, had a AWD. Lowballed them using Kirby's offer of $36k cap because I didn't want the AWD or the Panthera, but wanted to see what they would counter with. They said we weren't even in the same ballpark (figured.)

Covina - pretty fast moving. Ultimately ended up purchasing from here. Christina was my rep; communicated well, pleasant. Initially offered around a $38k cap; told her I was looking at $36-37k range. She said if I went in there, she could get there. Drove to Covina. On the way, downtown contacted me and asked for opportunity to match. Sat down at Covina, numbers came in a bit different as we weren't really apples to apples. About 20-30 minutes of going back and forth on numbers, got to where I needed to be. There was a misunderstanding of MF (they quoted 0.00225, I was expecting 0.00185) but we came to agreement. It was late when I walked in, around 8:00pm, got out before 9:30pm.

Agreement as follows:

Vehicle was the GT2, Pearl White, MSRP of $52,050

36/12
MF = 0.00185 (they originally tried to get me at 0.00225, which was the MF at Covina, but they gave me 0.00185 when I said I would register in LA)
Residual = 45%
Lease incentive = $10,050

Gross Cap = $48.976
Adjusted Cap = $37,144
Amount paid in cash = $4222.37 (doc fees, license registration, tax, incentive tax, first month)

Monthly payments = $493.66 before tax; $540 with tax

I saw your post on Edmunds where you said you're going to look into an early buyout. Any reason why you went 36/12 instead of 24/10?

Too bad Carson gave you a bad experience. The sales manager (not internet) gave me an upfront, unbeatable and almost suspicious offer of $46,050 for GT2 AWD (MSRP 53,445) which I also used as leverage for other dealers...Car Pros affiliates did not want to deal whatsoever. Glad covina worked out for you, as I had been eyeing their inventory for months before getting serious on dealing.

Because I'm an idiot and didn't fully do my research. I'm still exploring the idea of the buyout, I don't think it's concrete yet. First time I've bought a car in 8 years (previous was a Cooper S Convertible), and first lease.

Yah, Carson maybe was just having a bad day. I rolled in there around 8:00pm Friday night and no one really seemed to give a damn. They're close to my office as well, but some of my employees said they had a bad experience at Carson as well.

Regarding your $46 offer; a couple of the dealers had good offers. Say, $52 MSRP; $49 dealer discounted; $4k Kia cash rebate, to get to $45. By my math, if the lease incentive was $10k, that should be an additional $6k incentive, to bring cap down to $39k. I couldn't get anyone to go with that math. It would always end up back at, for example, $41. With Covina, I just pulled a number out of my ass and told them that's what I was trying to get to on cap cost ($36.9k). I figured it was reasonable; Edmunds had TMV at $46+ before incentive, and that's pretty much where we got to with Covina. I'm sure if I waited another day or two, I could have gotten downtown to beat that, but I preferred the Pearl white over the black/black. Wish I had found a red, but anyone with a red interior wasn't coming close.

Yeah nobody else seemed to want to play ball using my Carson numbers. I'm happy with my 37k net cap cost.
