I know how you feel , its a pretty invasive job that may/can result in some damage ..............it's such a piss off that Kia didnt get this sorted out early and do the right thing for all affected owners ...............I've got my dealer breathing down my neck wanting to sell me a new SUV and I'm not sure if Kia gets my business this time . I wont go back to German and I dont like any of the Japanese products , the domestic stuff all looks cheaply finished ..................maybe the new GV80 from Hyundai ................dont know , usually I have it all figured out by now ....................good luck on that sunroof K !Honestly if this doesn't work I'm going to just live with until I dump the car. I don't think I want them replacing the sunroof.
If mine doesnt get fixed by next summer I might sell the car especially if I pick up the Miata like I plan to, then I'll just buy older used cars and not care about initial quality anymore lol.Honestly if this doesn't work I'm going to just live with until I dump the car. Wow. Yea I don't think I'm going to waste my (and my wife's) time having them mess with the car.
I think I would have my sunroof replaced if offered this as a solution (without strings attached). I figure since I'm of the mind to strongly consider selling the car due to my perceived lack of overall quality, I'd sell it because noises exist, or I'd sell it because the dealer made it worse after trying to repair it, so I'd be in same boat in either situation, selling. Of course, if they did manage to fix it, I'd likely keep it until warranty expires.
The cold weather recently has offered some reprieve to the noises, now it's just some light ticking which I think is the seals, not popping now. The good is that I can ignore this until spring, the bad is I can't do anything to repair it because now my primary concern is seasonally resolved lol.
Crap. Two different issues that have you "covered" (in extraneous noise) year-round?!The bizarre part for me is that the (popping/creaking) noise is getting worse as it gets colder. The clunking metallic noise pretty much only occurs for me when the car has been sitting out in the hot sun. ?!?!?!?!?!

The reality is that some of us have noises but we won't have a one-size-fits-all solution. Those of us with noises only when hot will likely have a solution that fixes most, and those with cold related noises will need a different fix. Whatever my issue is on my car seems to be primarily caused when the glass in the front-most position, meaning the issue is likely something with the front end of the sunroof assembly, or, it possibly only has something to do with any part of the glass putting downward pressure. Once my glass is completely up and slid back even a little, it's almost silent. I've noticed some noises in rough parking lots with the glass slid back, but that could potentially be something else completely.
You're right. I can easily put silicone based tire shine on the perimeter of the sunroof glass where there's plastic and on the rubber seals and I will get zero noise for around 2 months straight when I'm not continually appling it during washes. my noises also aren't that bad with the clattering of metal that everybody else complains about. I live in South Florida tho so yes it's hot. I work for a Kia dealership here and we're looking into a fix for everyone as we speak. I'll get back by Friday with what we figure out.The reality is that some of us have noises but we won't have a one-size-fits-all solution.
