• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

After getting mine back today they confirmed that the current iteration is definitely wired to the rear fuse box
That’s interesting that they hook it up to the rear fuse box now and not the front, but it doesn’t explain almost $1000 price rise since last year. Especially if they don’t take the dash off anymore, there’d be less wiring etc to do. If you’re speaking to them again can you ask if they had to pull the dash out to install yours? Maybe see if they can tell you how they differ from the original. Would be interesting to know.

I’m not 100% sure but I read somewhere that the new bi-modal system doesn’t require the dash to be removed & also some changes in the fuse box have been made.
I also read about someone who purchased an MY20 & was having the Varex bi-modal & the install was delayed as Varex had to supply different parts to suit the fuse box changes.
Think the fuse size has changed

I think it's called bend over and touch your toes...it won't hurt that much !!!!!

That is the only thing that stopped me from fitting it. If that's not needed I will sell a kidney and get it done lol.
I have not 1 rattle or squeak from the install. Trust me they would know if there was told sales guy that...honestly it probably comes down to person fitting it.
So get that spare kidney out and enjoy the sound :p:)

Just have to find a sharp knife lol

If the new version doesn’t need the dash to be removed I’d be happy with that, less chance of squeaks and rattles, but surprised it would cost more as the quoted price on the Kia website is fitted which would include labor. Should be less if they don’t have to pull the car apart you would think.
Yeah you would think it would cost you less if there is not so much work to have it fitted. Some Vic dealerships were dropping the originals to $1200 so you should try to get a deal closer to that or match it.

My car hasn't got any squeaks or rattles on dash or anywhere else.
Only annoying thing is now and then the sound in my infotainment screen plays up.I listen to my iPod so the track will be playing but no sound coming out. I can switch the AV on and off and nothing works until I turn off car for a while and it's normal again.

The bimodal, just like every other motor valve exhaust including the Varex requires two things to operate automatically.

Power and Canbus.

I'm not sure why they didn't tap into the Canbus down the back to get speed and rpm but it might be on a different line or sub ecu network. Power is easy to get from the back so they probably didn't do this from the start because of easier access and proximity to the bimodal ecu.

So knowing all this, there's definitely no justification for the price hike unless they're charging for the cost of developing the new bimodal ecu that taps into the Canbus down the back because the exhaust itself will be practically the same and installation will be 10x quicker.

Interested how much

Biased opinion but keep the balance & for the economics do both, I just did 1400kms on Hume Highway, Federal Highway, Snowy Mountains Highway & Alpine Way, in Comfort for Hume & Federal & Sport for Snowy & Alpine absolutely handled amazingly, I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, this is the best most economical performance upgrade you can do to the Stinger.[/QUOTE]

I did those same roads in February this year, so much fun in the Stinger

I’ve got a feeling that’s your quote from when you installed your sways.
Nah, I had my sways installed Oct. last year, these were great roads to feel the benefits of them.
