So i got home from work today to find a package on the kitchen table. Anticipation.....builDINGGGG! Opened it to find that beautiful red box with the lettering JB4:) Of course the wife was over my shoulder...."What is that??? Another thingy for your car?? What's that you say? To make it go FASTERRRR?? ARE YOU NUTS?!?!?!?" LOL.

I know this has been discussed and I've read pretty much everything on it but I just want some up to date opinions. Should I regap my OEM plugs or gap and install the new 5346 Densos I purchased? I've read tons of conflicting opinions. Some say the OEM plugs will fail quickly and some say the colder Densos will fail. Now that people have had their JB4s for sometime, I'm curious how the different set ups are handling the extra power. My only other mods are Borla exhaust and Injen short ram intakes.

I plan on running map 2 daily on high quality 93 octane with an occasional jump to map 3 with ethanol added. I don't foresee anything past that. Also i'm not super heavy footed as I've only really mashed it 6-7 times since i got her 5 months ago and have never "raced". Why the JB4 then you may ask? I guess I just want to know the power is there if I ever need to defend her honor against all the SRT whatevers, WRX hooligans and douchy Bimmer drivers who think this lowly Kia doesn't stand a chance. No offense if your a hooligan or a douche lol Thanks everyone!

I went ahead and did the Densos first. The car seemed to run a lot better on these, even without the JB4. Don't know yet how they'll fair longterm.

I've been running a JB4 since March 2018 on stock re-gapped plugs. At the time I had 3-4k miles, today I have 21k miles. The plugs have not caused me any issues.

I ran denso for a month before installing the JB4 and the car ran super well !!

I would totally swap to the denso and gap the oem but keep them for later as spare ...

tip : run map 1 and map 2, gather some logs and send them to Terry, he will be able to tell you if you are good to keep or change to other map with no issue.

Enjoy !

My problem now is finding enough room to run to get a decent log! :)

Im unfortunately in the camp of having my 5346 Densos fail. They were gaped to .024 I lost two plugs after some 8000 miles. Mind you, I did like 80+ passes at the drag strip with them so keep that in mind with my experience. I Keep the originals as spares just in case.

Another good reason to put your location in your profile - you might get some useful suggestions ... :)
Done! [More] Tips welcome! :)

Awesome great info thank you all! Yeah Brian i've actually read that quite a bit. Although many also say they have zero issues with them. I think I'm gonna try regapping my OEM plugs to .022 and see how it goes. I'll keep the densos just in case the OEM plugs give me trouble. I'm gonna do this all on Sunday and I'll give an update! Definitely gonna gather some logs and get them over to Terry. Very excited thank you!

Why gapped at .024?? Denso are supposed to be gapped at 0.022...

Awesome gtecko thanks for the info! As I've stated, I'm new to tuning and I've done a ton of research but I don't recall seeing that .022 is too tight a gap for OEM plugs but thanks for the heads up! This is why I'm here. To learn from those with experience.

Great thank you for the link. I'm gonna go through all of it before I do anything. The last thing I want to do is screw up my car! Appreciate the help!

Denso need to be gaped ...doesn't matter how they came to you, no wonder why they didnt last.
only HKS sparks are already gaped from factory the way they supposed to be used.
