Exhaust Tips

I don't mean the good-looking tips, I mean the metal tips that slide over the end of the tailpipes. They need to be shorter so they don't show inside quite so much in my opinion.
I see what you mean, it is minimal, you really would have to be eye level, dead center to actually see the inside that close :rofl:

Fantastic - sounds more and more like a good fix. Plus, you’re right, looks much meaner with the new tips. Now just to waiting a slow boat from China so @JoeMQ can install on the Borla. ;)

It might come quicker than you expect. I had my exhaust tips from Aliexpress in 7 business days.

FYI, for those looking to get these tips for their borla exhaust, get the 2in ID (approx 51mm) ones. I made the mistake of trusting the borla site stating it was 2.25in (57mm), and the tips were too large.

I made the same mistake and ordered the 57mm. Rather than spend more $$$ returning them I used one layer of exhaust wrap to fill in the gap. Tightened up nice and snug. Pleasantly surprised how much it reduces drone.

Has anyone tried the 3" outlets? I am thinking 3.5" but a bit apprehensive to shave down the existing fascia.
Why do that not gunna go any faster...

I ended up doing just that, but with a small piece of metal instead to wedge between the exhaust pipe and tip. Took a bit of finessing, but it also fits nice and snug too.

you are not the first one, looks like a handful of members here got the wrong size ... glad you technique worked out, it definitively worth doing as sending them back to wait for the new one for couple of mm difference, you made a smart move there !
isnt a great solution to the drone ?? you would think those companies would mention to add tips to help out ( I mean Borla does but it a gran...)
Akrapovis tips FTW ! :ninja::ninja:

HUGE difference in drone. I also bought exhaust wrap to seal up the exhaust pipes to the tips, but the exhaust tips look so much cleaner and have the same result. Highly recommended for those who don't want to spend a grand on the Borla tips but still want a clean solution to the droning.

I am curious as to what outlet size you guys are getting? Do you have to cut plastic to get then in? Oval or round?

Thanks,

I hate to be that guy but there is only 13 pages on this thread, goes fast to skim through pictures - members have shared pics, oval, round, sizes... plus it all depends what you have as a system. Everything you want to know is already in here :alien::alien:

Thanks for being helpful. I have read the entire thread and I am still confused. Your effort writing the above email probably took as much effort as giving an answer, if you know it. Just a suggestion, if a members question bothers you just ignore it.

Add in my frustration trying to find out what diameter I need for my particular exhaust and not being able to is frustrating. Just purchased a caliper to measure it myself.

Thanks,
I got 76mm round tips. Didn't have to cut anything, but it was pretty snug. I believe the oval tips linked in the last few pages fit without any trimming too

Thanks, I have a Thermal exhaust, I just have to measure the diameter with caliper I am getting shipped from amazon and I am good to go. I appreciate all the information shared here!

you didn't even say what you were looking for ... and you want me to post pictures again what my set up or others too ? everything was shared in term of inlet and outlet. It does not bother one bit but those answers you looking for a probably on the last 3 pages.
76mm would fit, most of us that have taken (round or oval) 89mm and I only trimmed a bit, I posted several pics, even one from the inside, you should be able to see how much was shaved, not much.

I not sure yet what is available because I have to measure what diameter mine take. I have a Thermal exhaust. I just wanted to know what outlet size people are getting that does not require cutting up the car. I found the answer. thanks!

Maybe you didn’t noticed someone replied to you on Friday confirming on your thread that Thermal responded to him and it was 2.5inch
Cheers

Not correct, the tubing in front of the mufflers is but the outlet exhaust tips are smaller. I measure theme with a tape measure (imprecise) when I was installing them. I was just curious and as far as I can remember they were in between 2" and 2.5". I bought a caliper today to measure. I never dreamed it would be this hard to get this information from Thermal or the selling vendor. I have only been trying for about a month.

I did see the struggle on your thread... unreal that there is no customer service after this many attempts.
Someone got the wrong info for borla, 2.5 inch but it was just over two. He used thermal wrapping on the mufflers tip and clamp the aftermarket ones , worked very nicely.
AE is pretty quick go deliver if you go that route.
Best of luck and dont sweat if, I took 89mm outlet and only trimmed a little bit, you cannot see it if you reverted back to the oem ones.
