• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Ottawa area stingers

Avoid any dilawri stealership period, nothing but bad experiences from the Kia and Dodge dilawris from me and my friends. I bought mine from Orleans Kia, at the time they didn't include anything but they gave me the full autotrader value of my trade-in which made a big dent in the price and saved quite a bit with tax difference with trade in. My sister bought a stinger from them and her conditions to sell were good trade in value for her old car, red leather seats on a 2.0l, and free lifetime conplimentary service similar to what genesis offers. They actually had her choose the design and red/black accents of the seats at a custom leather shop that did the install. All at no extra cost.

Kia on hunt club not only ripped me off for service but they also oil/grease stained my roof liner with 4 nice oil/grease spots lol.
Went there for my last oil change just because it was close to work, and also wanted to see how their service was given they're only ones opened on Saturday.... afterwards being told I needed to do an oil change every 5k I laughed and decided I won't be going back there for oil changes, especially now that my JB4 is installed i'll be getting it done by a friend who's a mechanic and said 8k is perfectly fine.

5K? lol It says 10k right in the owners manual for normal driving conditions. This is exactly why I do all my own service.

Agreed on avoiding the Dilawri group. Had a less that great buying experience at Bank St. Kia.

How you liking the JB4? Its next on my list.

No clue what the owner manual suggests for oil changes but I have been changing it every 6k as dealer recommend; I do it myself though so if they were hoping to get me money they had false hope lol.

To clarify guy, I get free oil changes from them for the life of the car.

When its coming out of THEIR pocket they are still wanting to do it every 5,000 KM, if it were just BS they would only do it every 8-10K km as it would save them money...

Interesting, maybe I should start doing it every 5k. Oil has been in decent shape and amount doing it every 6k, going to try changing it at 5k if I get the chance to do it as soon as the warning comes on and see what difference it makes in drained volume.

What oil are they using? If they are using a mineral based oil that makes sense. I have heard Kia does not use full synthetic but that may differ my dealership I suppose.

417 just puts conventional oil. I would not recommend anything but synthetic oil being in Ottawa, -40 cold start is not nice to oil not the engine lol. Synthetic oil is also much safer for turbo charged engines because it does not break down as quickly as conventional oil under thermal cycling. Turbod engines put out a ton of heat, the combustion is hotter and more aggressive hence the added power, they also run the oil through the turbo bearing which is also exposing it to exhaust gas temperatures of the hot end of the turbo; boosted engine exhaust gases can reach temperatures extreme enough to make steel glow. On a stock car unlikely to glow but just gives some prespective as to how hot that environment can get and why synthetic is the recommended oil for turbo applications.

So as I can see here I should not go to Hunt Club Kia. But they are beating other dealership's price by 3-4k$ which is crazy.

Did you notify other dealerships? They'll workout a deal with you to try to beat them in many cases.

If you do go with dilawri, make sure the car is spotless before you leave the lot, check every painted part closely, open the roof up and check for any damaged edges in the paint, just so you don't have surprises afterwards. New cars are usually in new condition but does not mean it wasn't damaged in transport or by the service department when inspecting predelivery, check interior for oil/grease stains lol. Everything else is under warranty; they can say you scratched the paint but they can't say you scratched the motherboard and now the screen isn't working.

Yes that was my intention now. I live in Gatineau so would be better for me to buy directly in Quebec. They usually price match everything. But thanks for the info on the Dilawri dealership. If I ever buy from them I'll check the car before driving it off the lot.

Check it regardless where you get it because could happen with any dealer but dilawri just sneakier than others in the region so you hear more people complain about them. A buddy of mine recently went as far as toronto to pick up an Alfa just because the dealer had better customer service than any other near by dealers, they all have flaws but some are better than others and care about customers because they want to sell them the next car down the road and want them to come back for service.

Fully synthetic

Fully synthetic
Kia on Hunt Club uses full synthetic, going in tomorrow to take care of a number of warranty issues and an oil change

Good luck to you sir. Not a pleasant service visit first and last time I went there, those oil stains in the roof liner sure ain't easy to get out lol

Curious on what your issues are?
- Chirping every time the car stops, probably an improperly tensioned accessory belt
- Constant sqeaking from the door gaskets on all doors
- Right Rear seatbelt is currently fully extended and can't be retracted
- Rattling from right side of car
- Rattling from sunroof

I resolved the widely reported hatch rattle myself

There are other things that are harder to complain about, like the center console arm rest creaks when I get in and lean on it, there's no need for that to happen, it's just cheaply made and the hinge is not well supported. The sliding cover over the Qi charger in the center console is "slowing down", and needs a little encouragement to close fully. I'm starting to feel excessive flex in the body of the car.

There are a lot of things that I love about this car, but I'll tell you, I'm regretting not getting an S5 like I originally intended, and I'll take quite a loss trying to turn the car over now.

Fair warning, if you're looking for a top spec Stinger GT (2/Limited), just go buy a <10,000km used 2018 S5.

Wow that is quite the list. How many kms you at?

That's a mouthful, hope they resolve everything. Part of me regrets not going AMG just because of the repulsive service and lies from the dealers. I was told that anytime I took the car in for service I'd get a loaner for the time being to run my errands.. have yet to see that happen out of the 4 service visits. It's been aa squeak ride over all after the first 5K km, but I solved most of the squeaking with borla . The roof still squeaks loud enough to hear over the exhaust when cruising but I've bought silicone grease to try and fix all the rubber related squeaks over bumps, just haven't had a chance to apply it to check for improvement yet. And have yet to install that rear bar @YOWStinger lol, not a fun install by the looks of it  but I'll get around to doing it and the silicone grease on all rubber weather seals at some point.

The rear bar really isn't as bad as it looks if you have the right tools on hand, I spent at least 80% of my time during the install just trying to figure out how to get on top of the nut near the fuel lines, I posted my How To with all of the tools, it should take less than an hour if you've got the right stuff to start with...
