Transmission just blew up.

I wonder if Kia can pinpoint the fault down to the few that where in the assembly line when this happened. Issue the immediate callback of those vehicles that "may" be affected by this. This transmission has been around a while now too in various models. I am surprised.

I had a catastrophic failure with my Stinger a few months back. I tried to request a buy back or settlement, but customer affairs wasn’t hearing it. I got in contact with a lawyer when my car was returned after 56 days in service and that’s when they offered a settlement or buyback. I took the buyback. In total it took almost 6 months to resolve everything.

Good luck and PM me if you need any help or advice.

What failed on your car?

They won't be fast about anything. The 'escalation' agents are slow as f*cking dirt. I've been waiting 6 months for a simple remote start module which I will promptly sell.

They suck. Horribly. Fifteen unreturned emails later and I copied in a lawyer friend who deals in personal loss.

Sorry to hear that happened to your car, remember the Porsche GT3 burning engine fiasco? I guess can happen in any car maker, can you tell us which state or city you live? Not that I don't believe this happened to you.

My car has just been sitting at the dealerships back lot for the past 24 days. No one from Kia has ever reached out to me say sorry, or to give me an update or to talk to me about getting the situation resolved. No one. When I call customer care they just tell me that it is being looked into. Very disappointed in Kia. Don't expect to be treated any different when buying a $50,000 stinger or $15000 forte.

Wow, I'd say at that point I'd personally be contacting a lawyer. I'd just want a replacement car or a full refund to move on.

Depending on your state's laws, you might be eligible for a buyback at 30 days. Here it is 4 attempts OR 30 days total time in the shop without resolution. I'd say check and see what you are looking at. You don't need a lawyer, just an escalation team member to handle the contracts.

What state is this happening in?

Roger you are within a week of being able to file a lemon law complaint. See this-

Utah Division of Consumer Protection

If they don't offer to replace it I would be doing that after it hits 30 days. I would not accept a repair on a car that new with that kind of damage. Once it has been there 30 days you have the upper hand according to Utah law.

This is my third Kia and I have had good luck but their attitude toward customer service and solving problems is worrying me. I frequent some G70 forums and now they are having the same brake issues some of us are experiencing. Kia won't do anything about it or even acknowledge it, we shall see what Genesis does.

Wasatch Kia in Riverdale next to Ogden. Dealership was told by Kia to not touch the car after day one.
Thanks! The dealership sounds like a good one. Everything you've said about conversing with them and their response is blameless. They're just as much a victim of this defective vehicle as you are! Nobody wants this crap to happen.

Now, Kia Corp. sends out techs to examine these rare fubar incidents. As a poster above shared, it can take months (six months or even more). I'd say that 24 days must feel like a powerfully long time already! But you're just going to have to be patient with how long it takes Kia to work through this.

Meanwhile, I agree with your original decision to not take this vehicle back. Try and obtain a replacement. And let Kia do the autopsy on your dead Stinger and deal with it. It's their problem now, not yours. In fact, I would not even refer to it anymore as "my car". "Your car" hasn't been given to you yet. Insist on this as often and firmly as necessary. It looks like UT's lemon law is yours to wield. But heck, Kia should bend over backwards to get you into a brand new Stinger. Good luck!

Wow, very concerning issue. I wouldn't take this car back either.

Shit, at least they gave you a loaner....Kia Canada's policy is they DO NOT provide loaners for any reason.

Hopefully you get your car back fixed or a new car, but people forget about the debacle of Porsche GT3 igniting in fire suddenly just few years ago today no one remembers. This is probably one case in a million.
