Used Stinger GT Market Info

Pricing updated for 6/15/19.

Depreciation has continued as expected aside from the GT1. Used inventory on GT1's is limited right now, and a lot of what's out there has very low mileage.

That’s actually a really good depreciation line for the lease holders. I was hoping they would drop a little faster

I’m really quite surprised by how well the stinger is doing on the used market. Maybe things will change when the 2 year leases start to be turned in but I was really expecting to see more GT base models in the mid to high 20s. GT2 are still in mid to high 30s

Yep, at this point it really doesn't make sense to buy used. Doing a 24 month lease buyout puts the '19 GT at just over $30k and the GT2 at about $40k. I don't think saving an extra 5-7% is worth going with a model that's one year older, has miles and wear on it, and less remaining warranty.

We'll see if things change once the 3 year mark hits and lease returns regularly appear.

Probably another 2-3 months before KBB published the 2019 resale values. It will be interesting to see if those numbers stay high.

The Genesis G70 numbers were published this week. That car is slightly less expensive than a GT2 and the G70 numbers were pretty strong as well.

I think this is one of the few cars that is worth buying especially if you can get rebates plus the zero percent interest rate.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
You can find some good financing options too that get you on par with the lease cash. Depends on the dealer’s motivation to move the car.

I did a little playing around with the chart to see where pricing would end up if it continues the same curve.

The points beyond June 2019 are completely made up. All I did was follow the shape of the curve. I added four points on the graph for '18 Stingers at around 2, 2.5, 3, and 3.5 years old.

Disclaimer: I simply took the past values, then continued the curve. In reality, there are dips and peaks due to lease periods ending, seasonal sales volume, supply & demand, and too many other things to predict. Please don't use this to guide your purchasing decision. I just thought it would be fun to look at.

That’s an incredible graph, and I hope it’s a lie , I need mid 20’s for a GT2 in summer of 2020 haha

I am really curious to see what the resell values of the 2019 GT2 Stingers will be when KBB starts rating them in a month or two.

Sales are down so it might be entirely possible to buy a GT2 for slightly more than its trade in value in a couple of months.

The KBB G70 numbers showed up the other day and they aren’t far off of what some cars are selling for right now. The interest rate makes those cost a little more though.

same.

I was hoping to get a GT in the next couple of months for mid/high- 20s. And I've been surprised that there hasn't been much movement since I've been watching closely for 4 months.

I've talked with a couple of dealers about a new GT, and with a couple of rebates I can get to the $34-35k (OTD) mark, but that's still just more than my monthly budget will allow.

Still early for the used market. I expect to see the prices fall around the October/November time frame as the early leases begin to end.

Geez, that's crazy. I posted my GT for 28.5 to appease my wife for a minute, and got no bites. Wonder if I could actually get more, that would be tempting. Lol.

Pricing updated for 8/15/19.

Not much movement over the last two months.

I'm flabbergasted at the near lack of depreciation of the GTs.

Considering what you could buy them new for after the various rebate/lease buyout schemes... The cheapest GT within 500 miles of me is 33.5k... The exact (33.6k) same price I bought my lease out for exactly 1 year ago. Equally equipped with the tech package, 34.8k?!

Either used dealers are keeping a lot of negotiation room or I shouldn't have bought out my lease after-all. Will be interesting to see the over/under they predicted of the residual value of 22.2 24 months from now.

@Sabs very interested in your current analysis on this. Especially the 18 GT1 vs GT2

I’ll post another update on the 15th, but it looks like used prices are still following the same trend. That means lease incentives on 19’s are increasing nearly as much as used 18’s are depreciating.

I’ll PM ya with some more speculation, but it still looks like lease buyouts are the way to go over used.

Just picked up a 2018 Stinger GT RWD, driver assist pkg, Silky Silver color with 24.5k miles on it for 28k. CL ad from a guy who was local in California SF Bay Area, Has minor wear & tear but so far after almost a month everything about the car is solid.

Time for the bimonthly update.

Resale values took a big drop over the last two months - right around $1800 for all three GT models.

I've also been keeping an eye on CarGurus' stock numbers. On 9/15/19, there were 138 used V6 Stingers in their nationwide listings. On 10/15 the number is 220. A big increase in inventory considering it's too early for 24 month lease returns. Perhaps some trade-ins on Tellurides or other new/upcoming models?

Across the board, all used vehicle values are dropping rapidly.
