My 2019 AWDGT limited and beautiful black was delivered a month ago. When I picked it up from inspection I said to the rep” This is the worst pain I’ve ever seen on a new car”. I guess he thought I was kidding, I was at the swirls, the scratches… It was unbelievable, the worst paint I’ve seen since I bought my demo 2014 GT convertible Mustang. My buddy Steve has been killing himself getting it ready for ceramic coat… I can’t tell you the price because it’s too good but this guy has been nonstop for 14 hours correcting the paint. There’s imperfections either under the clear or through the clear that he struggled with and I saw them initially but his work is just brilliant. I threw some of the starting place in as well to show the mess

And tonight he starts applying the coating. Now I won’t be embarrassed of my very beautiful but fairly expensive car Because when you pay that much money for a car you shouldn’t have glaring defects like the factory paint. I hope others have had better luck that I have when they receive their vehicle

Swirls and marks like that don't come from a factory paint job. Somebody did a very poor and damaging job of cleaning/detailing prior to you taking delivery.

You are 100% correct. I'd have refused delivery in that condition.

I've never had to deal with that issue myself but I've seen it personally on a family members vehicle at time of purchase, they refused to take delivery.

Sounds like it's too late for you. Sorry to read this.

My buddy wanted me to take some pics of his Camaro after he had the dealer or someone subcontracted by the dealer to detail it. I didn't have the heart to tell him they did a terrible job because there were still a ton of swirls in the paint. I have a little more of an eye for that than him though. My car came with a lot of dealer installed swirls. I'm going to have some work to do as well if I get around to my coating this weekend...polishing is in order.

330km driven from London to Windsor. It looks like it was brush washed a couple times is
My guess. Brutal.
Shame you have to do the extra work, but on the bright side it's all very superficial and should disappear without a trace. As they restaged the car for you, it could have happened at either end.

To be on the safe side, make sure you give them firm instructions on your first and any subsequent service visits to 'NO WASH'.

some kid with a dirty bucket of water and a dirty brush followed by a dirty mit could do that in one or 2 washes if the car came in covered in dirt ...........theres plenty of clear coat on these fresh from the factory ...........it will be a bad distant memory soon !!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::)

Expensive memory...but a memory. It’s nice that cool wife agreed without question to approve the work and coating cost as she knows I would never by happy until I got the chance to fix it. 14 years after build my C6 in machine silver has never had a correction and the paint BEAMS literally....obviously lots of maintenance over the years but I wonder how the Kia paint will hold up?

its the accountants that build cars today so I'm sure your Vette has way more clear coat than current cars , sounds like you know how to maintain it properly , I'm 18 months in with mine , only hand washed and keep it well polished and waxed and its still pristine .................

I bet it’s gorgeous for certain.

Just got a text that the cuartz has been applied and she’s good to get picked up tomorrow night!!!

Looks perfect in that pic.
I think the clear coat on the Stinger is good. But my Silky Silver doesn't show swirls at all compared to a Black, so any swirls I do have are not drawing my eyes to them.

My ceramic coat took my guy about 14 hours and then overnight drying. He did paint correction first and then ceramic coated and protected the entire car, paint, windows, leather, carpet, dash, wheels, exhaust tips brake calipers. Cost me $1500 but it's been worth it everything hoses and wipes off.

My paint was trashed from the dealer. I actually was trying to sell the car.

I had it repairs, to the tune of $3,500. When I say trashed, the paint correction facility was unsure if they would repair the damage. It took them 2 business weeks to get the paint flawless.

KIA has amazing paint finishes, maybe not durability but it's the cheap ass detail companies that use bristle brushes on the wheels and the hood all at the same time while spraying the car with sand...kidding...not kidding. The lack of knowledge with buffing wheels makes it 10X worse.

Here is my paint, when the vehicle was delivered to me.

That's totally unacceptable for a dealer delivery. You're fortunate you have a mate who can can fix it.

Improper wash practices. That is what messed up your paint. Dealers do not wash their cars by hand, much less with the appropriate tools.
They just run the brand new car through the automatic car wash machine (which they also use to clean ever single vehicle that they service) and call that a detail.

I took delivery of my factory ordered Mustang in 2015 and told them to no touch it whatsoever, deliver it dirty. They did and I had no scratches when I took delivery. Not so easy when buying off the lot though.

This is how I took delivery of my Stinger. It's never seen a "car wash".
