@runner1 , hearing you. My first pick up from the dealership was a disaster. We went in all excited to pick up my car, manager greeted us and told us the rubber strip on the sunroof had been apparently " pecked by birds " whilst in the holding yard. Closer inspection of the car's paint revealed lots of swirl marks and scratches. ? it had been done by one of their service guys with a dirty rotary buffer .
Of course we didn't accept it in that condition and luckily we didn't because later we were told it was not just a rubber sealant issue, the whole sunroof needs replacing and will cost the dealership $7,000. It's now a demo model and was sent to the panel beaters to be fixed .

We wanted another one so they ordered a brand new one, it came from interstate so more waiting. However it was like chalk and cheese compared to the first one and hubby asked for the vin number so a mate of his could check the vehicle's VCR.
We asked for it not to be washed, so it's not perfect but will shortly been going for PPF and ceramic coating. The detailer doing it for us, advised not to allow the dealership to wash it so it wouldn't get swirl marks and scratches from dirty sponges/ cloths from people not doing it properly.It will go to him " as is ", even so it looks heaps better than the first one.

Here's some pics of the original car's presentation...

Ouch!!!

I have to admit, she’s home now and the paint is officially awesome. Maintenance is so
Much easier than repair and I will do my damn best to keep it best possible.

This is excellent information, really puts into perspective that the thickness of the paint on our Stingers is within the average for all major brands.
Before doing the correction on mine I averaged 130μm

Thanks so much for this information. Where did you get it, may I ask? The last time anyone here offered comparisons on thickness (not nearly as detailed as this) was c. a year ago on the paint chip/quality thread.

My Stinger have~135μm here on german market, yours in the states have 130. So i guees its the same paint for all markets.

@MerlintheMad
I got the data from a a big (and excellent, top class) painter shop. They did all my spoilers and stuff for the stinger, so we had a talk.
They had/have to collect the data for the insurance companies they work for. They have more numbers from other models, but i was to lazy to write down all data^^
The worst car they already got is the actual Ford Focus with 66μm.

Whoa! you could practically see through that! :D
Thanks for the added info. You did fine, for a lazy guy. ;) :P
