H&R RWD specific lowering springs

This is my third lowering spring and finally I found the right ones. As most of you know all the lowering springs available are built for the AWD, so on the RWD the car looks like it is squatting.

H&R recently introduced lowering springs for the RWD (Part #28701-2) and the drop and stance is very nice. The front is a little lower than the rear which is perfect, because once you drive it evens out and it will not squat too much if you carry people in the rear.

The fronts are a bit softer than the Eibach, but the rears are significantly stiffer. The car turns better and feels sharper for some reason.

Looking good. Glad to see someone actually gave these a try.

Wait!....weren't you on coilovers? :confused:

I was, but my tires were rubbing on my struts because the coilovers were thicker. Then i tried Neotech lowering springs but the drop was like 10-15mm only. Finally i found these.

They are :D but the problem was with the front struts not clearing the 255 with the 9" wheels.

handling wise the coilovers were the best by far.

How wide spacers would you have needed? I would think 3-5mm isn't horrible?
 
@STINGER are you on 19's or 20's wheels? I Iike the stance it gives.

With the OEM struts it would clear perfect, with the coilovers I needed a 10mm spacer, but the wheel would stick out and didnt look right.

Make sure that the part number is 28701-2. Not to be confused with 28701-1 which is for AWD. I couldn't find 28701-2 in the USA when I did my search, they didn't even recognize the part number because it just came out. So I had to buy it from deamontweaks in the UK.

On a different car, I've had H&R springs. Honestly, they seem to focus more on the appearance than the actual ride characteristics... Fair warning, lol... It might be why you've noticed such a difference in spring rates. Also, for daily driving, stiffening the rear would undo the inherent understeer feel cars generally err towards from the factory, so it definitely explains your improved feel. It's similar to when people are only doing rear swaybars.

EDIT: Corrected myself from the following post as I erroneously stated oversteer when intending to mean understeer.

ZyroXZ2 - I think you meant "understeer", not oversteer? Understeer means the car doesn't respond as much as you steer. Oversteer means it turns FASTER than you steered, which is the "RWD" thing people who want performance always want.

Do you have a link? I couldn't find anything on their website as far as springs for our cars. Came up no results, not even awd version

My H&R Springs are installed and the overall stance is much improved. What I didn't expect is how much better the car feels, more planted but more compliant at the same time. Small bumps seem to be absorbed more efficiently and their feels like there is less body roll.
