3.3TT Creating True Plug-N-Play JB4 Harness (w/Fuel Wires)

This plug and play quick install adapter allows you to install a posi-tap for fuel control tuning without piercing the factory O2 sensor wiring providing a completely reversible connection.
Love this!

I had the first forum member who seemed to be dead set on having this PNP harness created for their JB4 have their LSU 4.9 extension harness delivered to me today.

Here's what the member would receive in the return package

LSU 4.9 extension harness with two black wire leads (to be attached to the JB4 fuel wires) and two solder shrink sleeves.

I use a particular type of 20 AWG wire that's heat resistant to ~392 degrees fahrenheit, or 200 degrees celsius, given that this will be going in the engine bay and lead-free solder.

For install

Step 1: Take one of the heat solder sleeves and slide it onto the wire, we'll need this in a subsequent step

Step 2: Take one JB4 fuel wire and twist it with the lead from the extension harness like so

Step 3: Next slide the heat solder sleeve over the wires that were twisted in Step 2. The solder should be as close to center as possible.

Step 4: Apply even heat to the solder as well as the red silicone bands to create a soldered waterproof connection

Step 5: Unplug the o2 harness and plug your new extension harness in-line.

Step 6: Trash the Post-Taps and enjoy your PNP harness.

Really I'm the first one? I'm honored lol. Looks awesome Ecko! I cant wait!. Having to visit the dealer soon, and this will give me peace of mind.

I just ordered the fuel wires yesterday ... o_Oo_O @Terry@BMS will this be an option or will it take too long to make ?

@Terry@BMS, put me down for a harness too. I haven't even purchased a JB4 yet, but I'm planning on it in the near future. Full plug and play would be awesome

Also, huge thanks to @ecko04 for figuring this out!

No set timeframe but we're working on it.
I've decided on purchasing your JB4 but want to wait until you have the new version your working on so please let me know as soon as it is available...TIA

Disagree? lol Can't remember the last time I needed a 12" extension for something that connected without an extension...

Oh, sure, it would be better as a 2-3" extension. And I'm thinking Terry's cooking up something like that - but for ecko04's cable, it's a matter of being able to purchase an off-the-shelf 12" cable and modify it. I'm sure for $250, he would be willing to make you a cable of any length you want between 1" and 11.99" :-)

I’ll address this again, since it was addressed earlier in this thread, but I know these threads grow and people just stumbling across the thread may decline to read previous posts.

When it comes to o2 extension harnesses, they’re typically sold by the foot, already assembled.

Would a 3 inch or 6 inch version work? Sure, but then you’re asking me to modify your $75 harness beyond the two wires I need to touch for the fuel wires to 12 wires because you want it shorter.

While I’m more than willing to do that, you’ll have 12 solder joints on your brand new harnesses instead of two.

Would you see them? No.
Would you even be able to tell? No.

But I’m not going to do it unless someone specifically requested for it to be done.

Do the “extra” six inches effect anything? No. In fact, the additional length may give you a bit more wiggle room in terms of concealment.

If I planned to sell these, as opposed to helping forum members out during my free time, I would invest in the connectors — bulk order, and tools to create these harnesses at any length, which is what would need to be done to make the excursion cost effective, which is what is taking Terry and BMS some time to get this solution offered.

So for now, I’m sticking with modifying harnesses that are already assembled. If you want it shorter, cool, I have plenty of solder and a new soldering gun I’m dying to use.

For whatever reason you think I'm blaming you for 12" extensions... or that I want you to make them shorter... I'm not and I don't. If I got the 12" extensions, I would probably cut and repin to length. As far as making them shorter, let's just say I can handle that stuff. That they should be made in smaller increments from the get-go, that's my point.
Fortunately for me, concealment is not an issue as I have good dealers in my network. I remove my JB4 out of respect for the process, not because I have to. Everything else stays. I know not everyone is in the same situation.

Overall, your work is appreciated!

If so inclined someone could buy a male pigtail, with 12” leads, trim to length, use a crimp tool (assuming you have one) to secure the ends and slide them into the female connector.

Basically, 2 of these - Home » Shop » Connectors / Harnesses » Bosch » Bosch 6 way LSU 4.9 Receptacle Connector Pigtail

And 2 of these - Home » Shop » Connectors / Harnesses » Bosch » Bosch 6 way LSU 4.9 Connector Kit

This method does add a level of complexity that not everyone would feel comfortable with. You’d have to make sure the pin location on each side matches. Screwing this up could prove to be disastrous for the sensors themselves. You’d also want to add some sheathing (PET Braided Cable Sleeve) to the harness, something that the vendor involved in the group buy on N54 Tech doesn’t provide. It’s good to add sheathing before the connector is secured since split sheath is known to fray and come off.

Found the connectors and made a couple sample adapters. Ours will look like this. Around 3" long and simply plug in to the o2 sensor harness. Then you add the JB4 posi-tap to the jumper wire. Will take a few weeks to get them made and retail price will be $59 for the pair.

Simple solution for a good price. I'm in for a set. One comment, will the wire needing to be tapped be a different color to make it idiot proof? I will probably solder and shrink wrap it to make it a more permanent attachment.
