Ok apparently the valve is tightened up in the preferred position and can't be twisted to another position once fitted. There is a plastic elbow piece that can be used. So u fit the valve at horizontal then use right angle piece to point flow down. Hopefully that piece won't get in way of scuff plate.

Yes, yes, absolutely YES! I meant try the hot, soft water on ceramic; for comparisons. I've been washing my car for nigh on a year this way. It can only look more wonderful with ceramic coating.Wait, wut, no!
