Dents, Dings, and Scratches Thread

Go after SkyPark, Kia won't help you because it's in the manual so technically you were told even though most people don't read the owners manual I always do you learn a lot about your car that the sales guys don't even know.

I called them, they are filing a claim.

Thanks, I called SkyPark, they're going to file a claim with their insurance company.

Why is a parking service messing with your windshield wipers??

I got my front covered in PPF a week before some maroon in Oregon pulled up on my driver side wiper arm to clean my windshield. He was just doing his job (OR doesn't let you pump your own gas; and so the "full service" stations exist there, UNFORTUNATELY.) The 3M saved my paint, but the edge was seriously roughed up. Being "self healing", most of that went away over time. It doesn't really show anymore.

My first damage was less than a month into ownership too. A rock flipped up on my first road trip and smacked the bumper near the right headlight. It went through to the black plastic. I spent quite a few days trying to paint and wet sand the spot to blend, even a little bit. Hopeless task. There was no way I am going to take the car in for repair of such a small thing. That's too OC. Finally, I ordered the touch up kit that has the paint brush; laid a single swipe down and called it good. A few days later the PPF was put on. So I have a flaw, a very pretty flaw, mind you, to remind me of keeping perspective.

Other than scraping the underside of my RF bumper on a parking curb, I don't have any damage to take pics of. Not bad, for a whole year and some.

Found this on driver side rear door

Should I just do touch up pen or use rustoleum first?

If your pic is interpreted accurately to mean that the "chip" goes down to the primer coat, but not bare metal then just fill in with touch up paint. (It's impossible to gauge what the size of that divot is by the picture, or even where on the door it is.)

You did say "driver side rear door". That is the passenger side rear door. And I can't see anything, unless that teensy black dot, c. even with the bottom of your shirt, is what you are focusing on.

The thing that puzzles me is the black undercoat. I thought the primer was either white or gray.

Yes it is passenger side. Sorry about that.its a tiny dot, like 2-3mm. It looks black brown in color, so rust? Or it got burned?

You don't want to have to take the car in for days on days and have the whole door repainted for something that tiny. You can scrap it with the scraper end of a touch up kit, to see if rust comes up. If so, then a dot of primer first, then the touch up paint, should make it a whole lot less noticeable. After it dries you can smooth it out more with light wet paper sanding, if necessary. Anything is better than leaving the hole!

Do I win the cookie so far?

Two weeks into my ownership somebody ran into the back of my car and left.

The good news is that bumper is removeable and it will repair perfectly , doesnt appear any damage to the actual body ? Sorry to see that !! Good luck getting it fixed , she'll be good as new!

It was only plastic. A little rubbing alcohol and some wax and it removed most of it. I don't really notice it anymore to be honest.

I have a scrape on my lower front fascia that Im going to sand , prime , paint and clear coat today , its barely noticeable but its really bugging me . I was able to buy OEM spray paint and the color match is perfect , I've used it to paint my new rear diffuser and license plate frames
