So its my first post on here and I figured i would make it a good one! Recently, at the 1/8mi drag strip, i found it possible to launch my GT2 AWD on a couple pounds of boost with a couple of these steps: stock tires on 25psi all around on cheap track prep asphault , Sports mode, TC/SC off, Pull up about 10ft behind the line, hold the parking brake switch up and lightly give it gas. it should roll a couple feet before truly stopping. Now hold the parking brake switch up still and give it almost half throttle of gas, I can audibly hear my turbos sucking in air and my car will launch at around 2600-2700 if timed correctly though the nanny will kick in if you hold it for too long.. I was able to hit a 7.88 1/8mi while doing this with just a muffler cut, race chip GTS on setting 6 out of 7 (cant hit 7 as it will overboost and put car in nanny), agency power intakes, and an agency power BOV kit.. anxious to see what it can run with this on a flash tune with a couple more parts... do what you will with this info!!

1. Sports mode
2. Hold down Traction button till a beep is heard
3. Pull up on electronic parking brake and hold it
4. Slowly press the gas pedal till you start hearing the turbo spool and hit 2500-2700rpm
(your car might roll a little, let off the gas before the turbo spools and try from step 4 again, dont let off the parking brake)
5. Let go of electronic parking brake once you hit the 2700rpm mark and shift as you see fit..
[[side note, RWD will spin tires while launching with this method]]

Why not simply use the launch control? Am I missing something?

Welcome, btw: I like first posts that just dive right in! :D

My launch control never dips above 2100-2200 and I dont ever get boost off of it either..

And thanks lol, I've been reading for a couple weeks now, and finally decided to start an account!

I thought it might be something like this. You are bypassing the launch control's rather lackluster RPM ceiling. We've talked about this before on here; and the Stinger's launch control has been compared to BMW, Audi, Porsche, et al. "real" launch controls: which peak at just below the Stingers red line. :D So experienced drivers of "real" performance cars are not impressed. You are one of them, it seems: and must "abuse" the car to make it perform up to its potential. Go forth and have fun, for as long as it lasts. I'll enjoy reading of your exploits, and those of others. Your Stingers will have short but exciting lives.

Let me break down what I think I read.

1) Sport mode
2) TS/SC Off
3) Pull parking brake button up to engage parking brake and keep it held up
4) Lightly apply throttle, the car will move but then stop
5) increase throttle to ~2,500rpm
6) press parking brake button down to launch?

That right?

Great first post and awesome information! I will pass this along to other AWD Stinger buddies and keep the info coming!

Unfortunately I dont know if this will work for us "tractionally challenged" RWD Stingers.

Whaaat? OK I have to try this now

Launch in 2nd and it will.

This is amazing info, if it actually works! What was your 60ft @Kinvara8017 ?
FYI- I tried LC in 2nd once but it felt weird and seemed to put alot of strain on the transmission. Felt like the torque converter struggled launching in the higher gear ratio, but may have just been slipping more due to the lower RPM in 2nd.

It just sounds funny, there shouldn't be any additional stress on anything

Good to know and hope you’re right. Did it also give a “slingshot” type of feeling while the torque converter caught up to the trans speed?

Yes but I'm pretty sure that's when the turbos hit full boost :)

Unfortunately it wont let me post images or links to them.. I have 5 time slips from the strip, 2 of which were on LC, the other 3 were from when I got ballsy enough to try the parking brake launch.. my best 60ft was a 1.85 and I'm positive I can shave another .03-.05 off with better throttle control.. my best with LC was 1.98. So it's still not a huge jump but at least it's a start

0.13 seconds quicker on the 60ft is HUGE. My only question is, how do you stage? Seems to me it would be hard to line up properly if it's not exact where the car stops on the parking brake.

We need someone with a JB4 to try this and log the boost at launch.

Can you confirm the exact steps I wrote above?

Sounds to me like ~2-4psi. I forgot my Dragy at home and it's raining today here unfortunately.

I seem to have missed your post somehow Haha, yes those are exactly the steps. Sometimes the car will roll forward a couple feet while your doing this, but you'll know when the car 'plants' itself... otherwise what you wrote is correct, other than you dont actually have to press the parking brake, rather just letting it go will turn it off
