• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

I tow a boat and a track car (on a trailer) at least twice a month over late spring/summer/early autumn. So I'm not sure that hiring a ute from Bunnings is going to work. :)

I'm not worried about 25-35kgs - particularly at the back when the stock weight distribution is 52:48 front to rear. Cutting the bumper - if they screw it up, they get me a new one. Except for when the car is actually towing, the hitch will be removed.

Brake vent is open no mesh. I made the mesh to retro fit no gluing or screwing.

Just some info for people if they'd like to know.

I took a good look at a Stinger yesterday at the dealership (it was a demo model that'd be sold, and had some kms under its belt), and yes, there was a bunch of grit sitting in the vent in the rear of the wheel arches. But they're not brake vents (the air exits the front ones in completely the wrong place for that - brake vents would have the air exiting inside the wheel, back towards the calipers, when it actually projects air out past the outside edge of the wheel).

They're there for aerodynamic purposes, to improve airflow around the wheel arch - wheel arches are generally troublesome for aerodynamics because they cause a lot of turbulence (and turbulence is the enemy of laminar flow, and it's laminar flow that you want for a car to move most easily through the air). The front vents aim to set up an "air curtain" to prevent air from flowing past the body and coming back into the wheel arch. The rear vent gives air that does build up inside the wheel well an opportunity to escape back into the laminar flow going down the side of the body.

Sorry, missed that. Done now!

Yeah, I'm starting to reach out to a few, and will see how John Cadogan's group does (though I note they haven't contacted me yet 24 hours after I lodged my query - they do say 24-48 hours, I guess they're busy).

I have to say, the dealerships have been a bit of a mixed bag thus far. I contacted one dealership online, to be told they couldn't give me a price online, but they took my details and were going to have someone contact me today. That didn't happen. I popped into the dealership this afternoon, they were very quiet (no customers), they had no stock other than a single car that's already sold. The guy there did at least seem to know a bit about the car (he knows of the Jonny Tig upgrades, has seen the CAI's fitted, knew about the 4" single exhaust they do). The first dealership was much less knowledgable - the first salesman I spoke to told me there'd been no updates to the car since it was released in 2017, the lady I spoke to on my next visit was nice, knew a bit about the car, but was the one who gave me the $69,xxx quote.

At least today's dealer was closer on price - said RRP is mid-sixties, I can likely get a few more grand off that, and then offered that if they have any 2018 built MY19s available to them, I can probably save a bit more there too.

There's a long way to go yet, but things will start getting interesting at the end of this month... :)
Take the drive up the M1 and check the dealerships on the Central Coast (although both of them are owned by the same company) or head to Newcastle and check the dealerships at Cardiff, Newcastle, Maitland, and Cessnock. They’re pretty good on price, I got a good deal last year at Cardiff, @Hemz got a good deal at Maitland with the bi-modal included a couple of months ago. They may be more willing to deal than the ones in Sydney. They recently had a sale with up to $5,000 off the Stinger, but I think that’s ended now.

Don't even bother driving.....do it all over the phone. Call your 10 closest dealerships telling them exactly what you want and say you're not paying more than 62k with bi-modal exhaust included. They say no...say thanks..cya.

Can’t test drive over the phone :p:D sometimes if you turn up and they see you are genuinely going to buy they’ll go the extra mile for you. They get dozens of phone inquiries that never follow through so they often only trot out the standard line hence the offer of $69,000 that he had. Good old fashioned leg work and haggling still goes a long way. It depends how good you are at negotiating

Every dealership called me back coming in with a price under 65k but yes definitely test drive at a local.
Once you know what you want it's easy to barter...know your starting point and don't go above.

There you go Flame, your next car!
Nah. waiting long enough for the GT. don't think I will try drifting any time soon :)

You don't have to drift it just because drift mode is there. :)

It will be interesting to see what John Cadogan thinks of it if it gets released here. He was pretty anti-"drift mode" on the Focus RS, but he really likes Kia as a rule.

Harold Scruby from the Pedestrian Council will be up in arms - after all, there's so many pedestrians who might get hit on the track in that shot... :/

The orange colour is interesting. Not sure I'd buy it (pretty sure I'd not be allowed to buy it), but I really don't mind it!

Hmmmm. There are no licence plates in that shot. I’m not sure Flame posted that. Somebody may have hacked her account.
Lol. do you know how many peeps have their names and initials on their plates, I could fill up your thread even more but I won't put you all through that ;)

My drift comment was a joke, the only time I drift is with trolleys in the supermarket around the aisle corners, it's like launch control , not many peeps need/ have reason to use it :)

This is the rear spoiler just revealed on the Mustang Shelby GT 500, 2020 model at a car show, does anyone think it would suit a Stinger ?
I'm probs thinking a Lip spoiler would look better but could you get away with this look on a Stinger or would it look too boy racer and something a Nissan Skyline would have on it's back end ?
