Eibach Rear Sway Bar Impressions

Hey guys, I know this isn’t the correct thread ...but to give an idea of the Pro Tuner. I just pulled out of house to go spray off car. Temp is 32’ f out. Get on car in sport mode less .5 throttle. Car goes a tad left ... tad right in rear....... can barely even feel it !!! Then hooks and takes off!!!!! I look down at speedo..... at 65mph when I notice the side to side. OMG!!!!!!! So Addictive!!!!!!!!! So controlled!!!!!!! So intense!!!!!! So ... sooo ...sooo. OMG!!! I love this car and Lap3USA!!! Of course, this is all on Mode -2 with .5 can Boostane on crap 93 octane. Guys. I freaking love this car!!!! Kia out did it for real!!!! Partly this side to side is from cold tires and road. But you gotta get the drift!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!

Settle, Kevin, or else you're going to fly off somewheres. :D (AWD doesn't drift, thank the designers.)

I know. Lol. I am confident the tires are gonna slip on acceleration from a dead stop. Even my WRX would break loose all 4 on hard acceleration. It’s just that good guys! Lol. Awd that is. Can’t confirm this, just speculation. You would have to confer with a awd Stinger owner running Pro Tuner Mode 2

I'm on a road trip. The Michelin Pilot Sports are on. New wrinkle: the OE GT rims are not on my car. These TSW "Watkins" rims weigh 13 and 14 lbs less than the OE GT rims do. To what extent this contributes to the handling I am enjoying - and how much of the increase in cornering prowess is me just slowly getting used to my car - I am not able to say.

I can positively say that all the "up and down" sections of the highways (and there are plenty) are only the road, not the car bouncing along with them. The Eibach on "soft" is solid. The road drops or rises and the car does also, without subsequent movement in the vertical. Cornering is really good. I am more daring than I was during the winter on the Nitto Motivo A/S UHP tires and the GT rims.

Unfortunately, my scheduled drives during the week changed and I hardly ever get over to "my skid pad" and high speed interchange (see above). So I don't have an update on how the Pilot Sport tires and the rear sway bar compare in the "Gs" department. I'm going to have to dedicate a spot of time to that and just go do it a few times. Later ...

Keep us posted, looking to hear some more on this. I’ll be getting mine installed once I get back stateside. Been missing my ride and I haven’t seen one in the Philippines, HK or Singapore in the couple of weeks I’ve been here.

So in summary:
  • RWD: Order both front and rear
  • AWD: Order only rear
I'm getting the AWD soon and sways are on my list of mods.

Personally, I wouldn't install just the rear - they were engineered as a matched set, and there is a minimal difference in cost to add both. At a future point should you decide some 'tuning' is in order for understeer or oversteer, both front and rear have two optional and independent stiffness settings.

Here is what I don't get: Is every Stinger not made the same? Is there such a difference in consistency that aftermarket swaybars are needed to correct over/understeer?

It's got nothing to do with consistency.

The Stinger is a touring car, not a track car. Some people prefer to tighten it up to make it more like a track car.

Applies to many other vehicles as well, where people like to change the stock handling characteristics.

I've put sway bars on every car I've owned since I had the money and the parts were available. I like curves. A lot. I'm just trying to make up my mind whether I'm going to go rear sway only on soft or whether I'll do front on soft and rear on stiff.

I had front sways and end-links, rear sways, eibach springs, and a 19x9.5 with 255/35 tires square put on last week. AWD. It's freaking amazing. Kept them on soft, which is still 70% stiff than stock IIRC.

I have front & rear on soft, adds a whole new dimension to the cornering characteristics of the car.
Are you going to do front & rear end link upgrade? I have mine booked to be done in a couple of weeks.

Eventually. Nick started selling them a couple days before I brought my car in to the shop. I'll get them replaced when I comes time to do rotors. I wasn't very concerned about the rears since they're so short.

At that price I'll wait on them. I've done them on other vehicles and understand the value. I'll just do the sways for now.
