What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Ceramic Coat your car!!! How can you do this to your baby?
Are you saying that ceramic coating makes automated car washes safe? I haven't been hearing that.

Yes. I was weak. I'm away from home. I can't count on my son's water to be soft. Overnight pollen and dirty rain and bird poop got on my car. Scary looking process, though, isn't it! :eek: :D

This treatment is necessary because my car is exposed to the open Texas sky. It's going to be a long five more days. *sigh*
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!! OMG! (looking in the mirror) ... never mind. o_O

Coating makes washing it easier. You could've hosed car down with just water until you got home. Actually, does anyone know if the 9H coatings actually protects the paint from swirls like the one from a touch car wash?

Lol. You guys are overreacting. I do ninety percent of my car washes by hand. This car wash place does a complete soap and spray rinse prior to entering the tunnel. That means the dangly fibers are clean: which eliminates the greatest danger and fear: of gravel and whatnot caught in them from a previous filthy vehicle, getting dragged and swiped all over your car. If the fiber dangles are clean, there is no risk to speak of. It would take many such car washes to finally create noticeable swirls.

My biggest beef is that this place charges c. 50% more than I am used to. With a tip, an "exterior only" wash was twenty bucks. Heh!

Lies,all lies i tell ya.:laugh::rofl:

Merlin think what you want, but those things are instant swirl makers no matter how you slice it. It's not the end of the world, it's just the end of your car, that's all. haha

Washed and waxed using some new gear I got off e-bay: Ryobi undercarriage sprayer and electric power washer. Total cost was about $125 with their 15% off special. The undercarriage washer works really well getting off that nasty winter salt. I used this stuff at about 40 degrees after I first got it in March,wash_equipment.webp so any unusually warm winter day, the undercarriage will get a rinse.

Interesting timing on your purchase, since I am "on one" lately about needing the undercarriage sprayers in an automated tunnel. I'd have to see yours demonstrated to be convinced that a single, moveable jet compares to a bank of fixed jets running the width of the carriage/chassis, while the car is pulled slowly over them.

The carriage has 3 jets and while not as powerful as a car wash, I can run it around under the car as long as I want, so I'm not limited to just one pass. It attaches to the end of the pressure washer wand--wasn't sure if that was clear from the original post. I got the gear mainly because I live on a rural gravel road and my car is always dirty and I can rinse the undercarriage more often. Just another option.

Neat device! :thumbup:

I signed up for a car wash program with Shell that costs me about 7 dollars (CAD) per wash, which is touch-less and includes the full underbody spray on entry. Never done that with a previous vehicle, but I wanted to try and keep winter salt and mud accretion under control for the Stinger. I only do a limited number of these automatic car washes, as I only do this occasionally during warmer days in the winter season.

For me, once I divide the cost of this underbody spray device by the annual car wash costs, recovering the purchase price would be several years - so I'm happy with the solution I'm currently using. Also can't say for sure which is more effective, but the high pressure full width jet at the car wash seems to do a pretty good job. I know it makes for much more convenient wash with minimal effort on my part ... :p
