Is the Drive Wise Package Worth it?

Its worth it. Blind spot monitoring works with the HUD as well -the BSM logo appears on each side.
The forward collision sensitivity can be turned down.
As a daily going through the Dallas highways, it nice to have due to other horrible drivers on the road.
Someone enlighten me, why would anyone want to turn down the forward collision sensitivity?

If you get a lot of annoying false positives, I imagine you'd want to turn it down.

As I've said, I'm fine without the Drive Wise package, but I can see growing to love it. I never use cruise control as it is, so I know that much would be wasted on me. I told the sales lady I was concerned about being nagged too much, and sure enough during the test drive I got unnecessary beeps. That said, if I had known what the beeps were for at the time, if I was more familiar with the safety features, it might not have been as annoying. I still wouldn't have needed that case, but a gentle reminder isn't a bad thing. As an example, the parking proximity warning beeps aren't too annoying and easy to disable if you're in a drive through, but I actually find them helpful lots of times, even when pulling into my garage on a daily basis. I could understand learning to love these systems.

I'll be honest, though. The lane assist one scares me. The last thing I'm comfortable with is the car adjusting my steering. But maybe I'd learn to appreciate it. Does the lane assist ever kick in when anybody doesn't want it to?

This is another one you can turn down the sensitivity on. It can be off, it can beep, or it can be aggressive in keep you in the lane to the point where it has steered me around some curves lol (don't worry, I'm not actually using it like how those Tesla folks do).

There's a green icon that shows up to indicate LKA is active. That's when you may feel some pull if you're veering out of your lane. Again, all adjustable to your liking.

I definitely get a fair amount of false positives when someone up ahead has their blinker on to turn, and I proceed as if they're actually going to turn, which the car thinks it's just an object that's going to come to a full stop in the middle of the lane and stay there. It's obvious what's happening though so it doesn't really bother me.

The system definitely isn't "worth" $2k to me personally, but it was hard enough finding a RWD Yellow GT so I was happy to pay for it. People love the adaptive cruise control but I tried cruise control once in 1996 and prefer to just drive manually. Keeps me engaged. The one time I wasn't engaged was about 6 years ago when I got drowsy and got fully into the rumble strips on the highway at night. That woke me the hell up pretty fast but it's nice knowing the lane detection is there just in case it happened again.

On the default setting, I've had it trigger brake assist which I was not expecting. I wasn't applying the brakes, just coasting. System didn't like that and hit the brakes for me.

I had a 2016 Tucson for one and a half years and the Stinger for a month and a half, they both had Forward Collision Avoidance systems and never experienced the car applying the brakes before me. In both cases, the setting was set at normal, which I believe is a middle of the road adjustment.

Interesting topic .. i just come along (I really have too much time while I wait for my car) searching for a manual of the navigation system or anything which is not part of the car manual,..
(Edit:Found something ..Multimedia manual - funny it’s not online at mykia App where I get the car manual..)

Well I came to the DriveWise page of Kia and found interesting systems (of course no info what is used for navigation) but I guess, not all cars get all the systems, do they ?

Park Assist is no Part of the Stinger and also the Traffic Jam Assist isn’t a Part, or ?

Maybe options vary in Europe in USA GT2 has all the systems.

To be specific:
Traffic jam assist is a systems that guides you trough the jam, detects gaps and drives you into them, to get faster forward

Park Assist is not only „beeping“ because of the Sensors and not only showing the camera, it also checks if the gap / parking slot is big enough to get in or not and helps you guiding into the parking slot

Oh I dont think any stinger has is. But my R8 can guide me where there is less traffic jam

Just read the multimedia manual .. hell there is nice stuff we don’t get .. okay UVO is not available .. no surprise any more ..

But SiriusXM is a nice thing ..
and digital Radio .. I bet there are many in the US or ? I would love to get some metal / rock stations.. It will end up by putting music to my phone and play it with Siri.. that’s not bad .. but I guess I need to buy many titles again since they have low quality

My insurance definitely offered a discount for the Drive Wise package. Interestingly, the Stinger (2.0L) insurance was much, much cheaper for me a similarly equipped BMW 328xi GT. It was only marginally more expensive than a Volvo V60 wagon, which has got to be about the lowest insurance rate vehicle in existence...

The title kind of threw me because mine is a GT2 which includes all that as standard so I wasn't aware it was grouped and called "Drive Wise". I have State Farm Insurance and they have a nanny package that if you install to record your driving and report it to SFI they will give you a nice discount. You guessed it, their app is called "Drive Wise".

However the SFI app sucks. My Samsung Galaxie 7 edge keeps giving me messages like "You should really remove your 'Drive Wise' app. It has crashed 31 times in the last 7 days." And it has bouts of not reporting any trips for months at a time. But for the discount, I live with it.

BTW I love those things in the "Drive Wise Package". In about 70 years of driving, I haven't been in a moving accident. (Been in 5 while parked.) I think it will help in several ways and make me a little safer, at least if I am moving.
