• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

What did you do to your Stinger in Australia today?

Did you get your plates mate? I've got the dealership registering my car with mine when they arrive on the 21st. :)
I did. But also ordered the larger Stinger badge for across the rear also. So will do at same time and post up then...

So due to the dust storm that hit the east coast earlier in the week combined with ash from the bushfires that drifted across while I was at Port Macquarie, my baby was looking a bit worse for wear covered in red dirt92FA9ACA-E171-4013-9958-086005E63B34.webp so I ducked over to Repco because they currently have 20% off for NRMA (& equivalent other States) members and bought one of these47FA7A96-226E-42EA-90FC-BF14FA294CC1.webpthe snow blow cannon comes with a 100ml sample bottle of snow job which is only good for one use. It also comes with attachments for karcher pressure washers. So I gave it a run 21AB3B3C-5732-4554-816A-9917B2BE2D03.webp let it sit for about 5 minutes after I was done then washed off with high pressure water followed by a further hose off with low pressure. They say to use standard hand wash after hosing it all off but all of the dust/dirt was gone and I was short on time so just used my big green sucker to dry it off. The finished product B96E6ACD-4F2F-422B-A789-75B75F6FD90C.webp

You don't have a ceramic coating do you?

Wouldn't it have come up s

Does that affect the ceramic coating? I thought the whole point of ceramic coating was to make it easy without extra products? No I'm confused haha
No it doesn’t affect anything it’s ph neutral the same as the shampoo the dealer provides, only I applied it as a foam instead of a bucket of soapy/bubbly water. There is no “extra” product I just used a different one. It was easy, as I posted instead of having to do the recommended second wash (because technically the foam is a pre wash) it cleaned the car up nicely without it. Basically it’s a quicker and easier way to do it and with the exception of drying completely touch less. I’ll cut you some slack on your confusion due to the endone :D

Hahaha I have my moments lol. Anyway it was pretty much all for nothing because I got half way to work this morning and drove through a light shower that didn’t last more than a couple of minutes but enough to ruin my hard work.

Do you find that compared to previous cars without ceramic coating it does bead a lot better and generally look better unwashed after similar scenarios?

Yeah it does bead a lot better, but hard to compare if it looks better because my last car was 15 years old and never got washed much in the later years, when it did it was the local laser wash which had a bad habit of not getting all the dirt off, and I can’t remember the last time I polished it. Also it was white and the big difference is the blue Stinger shows the dirt up a lot more than what the white car did. Yes it looks better but it’s new so I’d expect that, however I would suggest the Protektiv is the reason why it gets some of its shine/sparkle. It certainly makes it easier to clean I’ll give it that.

Oo blue shows dirt more? That's interesting...I wonder how grey will go with dirt!

I had a dark green BMW prior to Stinger and it didn't show dirt all that much. Paint was in excellent condition but wasn't ceramic coated so water didn't bead as much as Stinger. I find that SWP doesn't show "dirt" all that much but dust is very noticeable particularly if one brushes against it. The most noticeable parts are the rear end and door sills.

Strangely I think coloured cars show the dirt more than white, especially darker colours
Very true, a few years back we had a dark ( navy ) blue commodore and it showed up very dust particle. Our Silver cars now, my Optima and hubby's Cerato don't show up the dirt much at all.

So today I took my baby in for her 10,000km service. It’s taken me just under 8 months to bring up the 10k and I’ve only really done one lengthy trip which was about 600km return to Port Macquarie. Got the diff oil replaced, I thought they might try to fob me off with that based on a few other experiences posted on here but to my surprise they did it without question. I told them I could feel a slight knock going from reverse to drive especially when she’s cold, not sure they believed me but came back after service and said they’d actually identified a problem that no longer showed in testing after replacing the diff oil. Needless to say I’ll be keeping an eye on it.

Had a quick look through an MY19 at the dealership when I dropped mine off just to check the differences. They’ve got it listed for $58,771 for anyone who’s interested in picking up one cheap.

Went out for lunch and the barmaid at the pub came over and found me and asked what my car was, said she’d never seen one before. She’d actually gone outside beforehand and looked it over. Told me how she drives a WRX, her second after writing off the first. After hearing me talk about the Stinger she said she’s going to look the specs up after work and will consider one as a replacement for her WRX.

After lunch went to AutoBarn and put a deposit on a Blackvue DR900S 2ch dash camera with the Power Magic Pro. They’re installing it for me next Thursday.

Umm, hope you don't mind me pointing out but I think your supposed to be in the thread "pictorial where did you go with your Stinger"
never mind, all good, nice car and Sorento is a lovely place to visit, you should go to Borneo to the Maze. :)

Looks like a Stinger not a Sorrento..lol

Just speaking with John at Eibach Sydney. He's placing an order with the factory next week for sway bars. Expected delivery about 6 weeks. Front or rear bar $378 each, both $628.
