Kia Stinger Depreciation Discussion

The depreciation seems to be fairly significant; I've already come across 2 new 2018 GT2's that the dealers would take $40K for.

They may be new but they are leftovers from last MY. That commands a big discount with any car.

You should see some of the 2018 Audi A6 discounts I've been coming across. Plenty of them are $10-15k off and some as high as $20k off sticker.

That’s a great deal but isn’t significant depreciation. After rebates and negotiating I only paid around $42k for my GT2, and that was an entire year ago!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Yes, and even more than the discounts off sticker. When I look at auction sales, it's an even uglier story, always. Buying a brand new auto is not an investment. It's a sunk cost.

I know you are into the A6, was my dream car for years after getting one as a loaner when I had an A4, went to drive one to upgrade from my 525 and it didn’t wow me in the ride and handling, ended up with a 535 as a replacement. Been a while since I drove one but I still like how they look. With that discount are you considering giving up the Stinger for one?

I'm kicking around the idea. The main thing holding me back is I don't want to buy used and I don't want to suffer the horrible depreciation of German luxury cars. That's why I've been looking at MY18.

And now with the redesigned 2019s and all of their new tech I'm even more inclined wait until next year and buy a leftover MY19.
