Hello everyone, I'd like to start a dedicated LAP3 Turbo Upgrade thread and other work logs on the Kia Stinger Tuning section.
STINGERcopy.webp

We have shared a 700BHP(600~620WHP) Kia Stinger work log a few weeks ago, running 20-21psi with 93 Octane & WMI, recording the most powerful Kia Stinger in the world with stock internals. If you haven't seen it, someone already posted it under the engine/exhaust section.

(Link to the thread:700BHP+ LAP3 Stinger GT)

Today, we'd like to share the result of the LAP3 XT26 Twin Turbo Upgrade w/ stock boost level, 13~14.5psi, and what it would put down with proper ECU tuning. We made 500-520WHP with our prototype turbo kit & tuning. The power band is extremely smooth throughout the RPM, along with extremely linear torque to provide amazing power delivery. We made this power solely on 93 octane gas with low boost ~1bar (14.5psi). No meth or racing gas was used. We are excited to dive in to the platform as the OBD Encryption solution is almost finished to protect our tune data, and we will have ECU tunes & Turbo kits released for the market once the OBD encryption is ready.

We will also make a separate post about our LAP3 ECU tune paired with the Pro-Tuner soon. To get more updates, join LAP3 Performance discussion page (www.facebook.com/groups/lap3usa).

Any info on ECU tuning with stock turbos?

Base: 201ps 32.2kgm at the wheel
Base: 198whp & 232ft-lbs of torque(~255BHP)
Pro-Tuner: 253ps 38.9kgm at the wheel
Pro-Tuner: 249whp & 281ft-lbs of torque(~300-310BHP)
XT29 Turbo: 298.4ps 40.4kgm
XT29 Turbo: 294whp & 292ft-lbs of torque(~360-370BHP)
~near 100WHP gain over stock!

Lots of room left in it. With a meth injection kit, we should be able to make 330~350WHP. Once we get a chance to work on the engine, we should be able to break into 400-500WHP+ realm, like the Sonata & Optima 2.0T platform.

I saw on Facebook they made ~490whp with the ECU tune. This was 21psi with WMI, intakes, primary downpipes, catback. Stock FMIC and secondary downpipe.

I think I saw that on IG. I thought that was with the Pro Tuner though.

It's easier than using a forum. You can just sign up and join the page :)
Kam after doing that (joining) Facebook will start collecting all of your data.....I can still go look without joining..but sometimes its a limited look.... although they might already have it ;) Wash

Nope, that was with the new ECU tune. With the protuner I think they topped out at ~480whp?

Not sure what you saw but based on this is, no mods just 93 octane. Turbo Kit & ECU Tune at stock level boosts.

No no, read the quote / post history again. Kamauxx was asking about Lap3's ECU tuning on stock turbos. They made 490whp. Completely separate from this post talking about the replacement turbos

The 490WHP Stock Turbo record via ECU Tune was posted a few days ago.

We will be making a separate post about it later.

The Pro-Tuner is still paired with the ECU tune for the customer to change maps on the fly.

It's not just about the power it makes on the dyno, but the drivability has improved significantly.

Spool up & response time is much quicker. It is definitely faster than the Pro-Tuner by itself.

Here's the link: LAP3 USA

From the FB posts by @LAP3 Tuning, there is the big balls ECU tune with the aftermarket Turbo and another ECU tune for the stock turbos that have the ability to use WMI...at least that's my understanding...I'm waiting for the stock turbo ECU tune...

Boost levels are irrelevant when taking turbo upgrades. CFM Is what makes horsepower. A larger turbo like the xt26 is going to move more air at less pressure so it's not a comparator to spinning the piss out of a small frame. Just clarifying for folks that is not about psi, CFM is what you're after!

Of course, and it is also much safer to make more power with properly sized, bigger turbo upgrades. :)

Soooo... Can we use a filter other than that JDM-hipster looking garbage?

EDIT:

Oh yeah, forgot to ask: is that ECU permanently relocated to the top of the brace bar on a bracket to make more room, or was that just for quick access?
