Need help in purchasing a 2018 GT1

No dude the price is at the bottom , minus the $5000 rebate.

It says $35099

Take away $599 from that because I asked them to add that for gap.

I didn't ask/care what their price with/without incentives we're,.I simply said

" This is the car I want , this is the price I'm paying, I have my own financing if necessary my credit is 800+"

Their response " you must finance through us to get the $5k rebate, yes we can do that price. Sold"

That's the condensed version,.but do t get caught up in incentives and fees and blah blah...focus on the price of the vehicle, the interest rate, and the terms in months.

I keep it simple.and it always works for me.

You got 5k for financing with them? They offered me 2k. Taking the .9 financing is a better route for me than 2k incentive. They have 3.99 or more on a 30k finance. Thats 3.5k interest.

You finance through them, wait 6 months, refinance for a much lower rate through capital one.

what kind of rate are you getting through capital one? The best I could find is 2.6% through a local credit union, with a 800+ credit score.

I never looked it up, but is there any fees associated with refinancing through someone else after getting the rebate?

Kia gave me a rather crappy 3.9, but I went with it to get the 5k rebate....my last loan was 2.8 through capital one....however interest rates have risen overall regardless of your credit....once I refi...I'm hopping to be below 3.5 ...I also like to pay more than minimum or add a lump sum now and then to save on interest.

Sanjay, congrats on getting a great price, on a beautiful car. Windows already tinted, that saves you another whole day right there. To me, some paint protection is still better than no paint protection.

Don't know if you have already registered the car yet? From my limited research, it's my understanding that you have to
-Physically drive to the DMV and let them check that the car is 50 State emission certified, then you got to
-Pay the sales tax and licensing on the spot with cash, check, money order or a debit card.

Is this the process that you have/or will be going through? Phil562 and I are both from SoCal, trying to figure out if it's worth it to fly out, drive 800 miles back, then enjoy spending an entire day at the DMV or not. Thank you.

Lol. You'd be spending the whole time inside your brand new Stinger. What's not to enjoy? :D And after that road trip back to Cali, even before it is finished, your engine would be broken in (first 600 miles). And you could start playing with high RPMs driving.

Sorry bud, much easier for me because I'm a Florida resident , temporarily working in CA.
I had a ploice officer verify the VIN, then I had to have a power of attorney filled out so my dad could do the registration in Florida.

I got f&*%ed on taxes because Florida DMV claims that the 5k rebate is " Kia paying cash" as a incentive to buy...so even though I paid 35k I had to pay tax on 40k....but it's only $400 more than if I had to pay higher Cali taxes.

So for me it's worth it...I can't say I'm certain of the Cali procedures to register, also Florida has no smog.

Thanks Sanjay, welcome to home of 10%+ tax, front license plate required, can't tint front windows.

Btw, the pics of your car looks sexy af. Any paint problems with with the debadge?

Thanks! And yes...I underestimated how soft the paint was ...I used a blowdryer, not a heat gun...and that helped a lot..but even using just a thin plastic card caused some marring of the paint. I recommend you warm the badge well and mask off the area around it and maybe try using dental floss instead of any tool to remove the badge.

painters tape around the badge is a must, if you do that you don't really have to worry about scratching the paint. On mine I just left it out in the hot sun, taped it off, cut the edges of the adhesive with fishing line, then used a flat skinny piece of plastic to cut the adhesive in between the posts and around the top and bottom. No way to damage the paint doing it this way.

As for the tax, even here in Alabama, home to the most tax hating people in the country, we also have to pay tax on the full amount (including rebates). This goes for anything we buy here with a rebate, cars, food, appliances, etc. I think it's fairly common.

Well I feel better about the tax situation knowing other states do it too. And yeah, it was silly of me not to tape it off.

You know what "they" say: Misery loves company. It's funny to read about how in the middle ages, revolts over taxation were common; for taxes increased less than one percent, when the "rate" was already less than one percent. It's all a matter of what you are accustomed to.

Well I'm only 31 and I hate giving the government $2400 for a car I purchased, along with $400 in registration fees for Florida, gas taxes...the list goes on. But i will say, ive lived and traveled a few countries....always nice when I land at the airport in the USA and I can always , easily see where my tax dollars are going.

CA tax is 10 percent so you are better off. 2 things you cant escape from, death and tax.

Cali, the land of promise, the land of plenty: the promise of more taxes and higher taxes; and plenty of out of control fires. Ye gods.

If you wanna buy here and have it shipped or fly here and drive it back....pm me and ill give you my salesman's number...on a 2018 gt2 you ought to be able to do real well ...why a gt1? gt2 for sure...go big....lol Wash

Hey washguy, I'm in Colorado trying to buy a fully loaded GT2 out of state, best deal I could find is $38K before any incentives. If you think there is better in Texas, I'm definitely interested if you are still willing!

Viper my salesman left a few weeks ago ,and ive hooked up a couple of folks with sales and management over at Central kia
and they came back to me ,and said they got treated poorly .......Im thinking you got yourself a good deal...go for it.....Wash

That is very good! I can hardly believe a brand new GT2 would go for under $42000 before incentives. Times are changing as 2019 approaches.
