10,000 km in and a $255 maintenance bill?

There are 3 different plans: 3 Star, 4 Star and 5 Star plans. I went for the 5 Star plan which looks to be the full meal deal. It cost me $2900. Not sure if that is a good deal or not, but at least I have piece of mind until 2028. I Plan on keeping the car, so the extended warranty just made sense. Plus if I go claim free from 2023 to 2028, I get $2000 back. I’ll dig out the schedule of coverage and post it so you can see how the plans compare.
It’s called Kia Protect

Ah I see. Thanks for the info. It says I can purchase it six months in under 12k kilometers. I might do it but 3k is an insane amount. Maybe they might have a lower mileage version. I am a bit skeptical on brining in the vehicle to dealerships due to the reason that many have not serviced these types of vehicles so they may not treat it with much care.

Yes please If you can attach the sheet that would be good .I am interested with what it covers. I had a Toyota extra care package 4 years 100k which gave 8 oil changes 1 tore tore rot and hazard protection which was good because my tire blew on the 401 due to construction and they covered the tire and wheel.

This Kia Protect is an extended warranty - bumper to bumper. It doesn’t have anything to do with oil changes; it is not a maintenance program. The way I look at it is, all the power train bits are covered. Motor, turbos, transmission, AWD etc etc. Beyond the 5 year warranty, how much do you think it would cost to fix a blown motor or turbo, or to put in an new transmission. What about all the safety electronics this car has like cameras, sensors etc etc.? This car is a performance car and is driven in a more spirited way than most other cars. Something will need to be replaced, it’s just a matter of when. Piece of mind for 10 years - 200000km? Seems like a deal to me. Works out to be about $25 dollars per month.

$4,000.00 for a replacement turbo.....issue's with wastegates have already been reported......and yes the wastegate is part of the turbo unit....it ALL gets replaced.

But not beyond your initial warranty period, which for me, is 5 years 100000km. Beyond the initial warranty, we Stinger owners are on the hook for all repairs, unless issues are TSB/Recalls, which the wastegate issues are not at this point.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
triple ''B'' ,You asked how much, there it is!! Thats the cost....
Trust me My car is on it's 3rd!!!
Having the warranty is understood......I have the same exact warranty :) uh, turbo is part of the power train so there may be an argument here.......but not from me, I'm covered for 10 years 100,000 miles.

10 year 100000km is great, but I only have a 5 year initial warranty. I plan on keeping beyond 5 years so it makes sense to me to purchase the 10 year warranty. I’m not trying to convince anybody about extended warranty. Buy it or don’t. Think it’s useful or don’t. MackyGio just asked what I paid for the warranty and what it includes. There it is

there you go,lol.

Oh wow .okay. That's totally different then. I see . Hmm .You make me want to get this. I wonder if they can spread it around like they do car payments. I drive 110km a day on the 401 so this would definitly be nice to have 10 years and 200k. Can you tell me if they cover road hazard in that extended warranty? Thanks .

Kia added the price of the warranty into the purchase of my car when I bought it. There is roadside assistance offered in the warranty - Tow, winch, battery boast, fuel service, tire change, lockout service etc.. I attached the program details in post #45 above.

Dam well it's too late for me to bargain with them. Kia.ca states i I can add it on later as long as it's not over 10 years or over 100k so that should be within 4 years with my driving habits. I wonder however if it is third party extended warranty or straight from kia itself. Our friends to the south have their extended warranty o through third-party.

My understanding is that they will give you $1,000 cash and $1,000 towards a new car at the dealership. And you know they’ll make that money back..

Can someone shed some light on what it states in the manual. It says Change engine oil every 10 thousand km for regular use but for severe usage it is 5 thousand Km. I guess, would it be best to just keep to 5k intervals even if you don't drive it hard every so often with full synthetic?

10k km or 6k miles is plenty. Anything less than that is completely overkill, especially with about 8 quarts of oil.

Thank you for the reply. It's just I see people swapping out at 5k KM so I was a bit at odds as to when I should be doing the swaps. I know I will swap out the oil after break-in which I hope is before winter comes but every 5km I find was very low.

I’m just following what the manual says. Conventional oil every 5,000 km.
