LAP3 Pro-Tuner - 540BHP New Stock Turbo Record

What is the result if I not upgrade the primary downpipe?
Only with the cat back and secondary de cat
are they sellling Stingers in Hong Kong ???

For those who want to know how much boost we are running, here's some graphs.

Stock boost shows about 1.0Bar (14.5psi)
Map0.webp

91 Octane Map 1.2Bar, (+3psi over stock)
Map1.webp

93 Octane Map 1.3Bar (+4.3psi over stock)
Map2.webp

93+Meth Map 1.4Bar (+5.8psi over stock)
Map3.webp

All of our mappings run very conservative AFR of 11-12 under wide open throttle as shown on our dyno results. We can run leaner AFR to make even more power, but this is where we finalized our mappings at.

LAP3 Would you please school me on how you arrived at 10% drivetrain loss? I went and looked at four/five different dyno runs from various people...and everyone shows 15% to 18% drivetrain loss. How do you arrive at 10% drivetrain loss? Your record, if that's what you wanna call it is based on 10% drivetrain loss...Ive been involved with dyno's and cars since 2003 ,and both you and I know that they can be manipulated to suit ones needs .Show me where, or how you arrived at a 10% drivetrain loss....im stumped :) Wash

That's what the calculation comes out to. From 365 crank HP, putting down ~328WHP on the dyno is about ~10% powertrain loss. We have seen up to 20% loss on AWD drivetrain on AWD dynojet. I see PRESSERTECH' RWD GT baseline of 334WHP with aftermarket intakes. That's not 15% loss. Perhaps they are just stating the general drivetrain loss percentage, but the simple calculation shows 8% loss, not 15%. I see that their baseline dyno had intakes on, which probably increased some HP. Thus it would be about 10% loss if they didn't have intakes on. We can just use the general rule of thumb and say "15% loss," or whatever logic those companies are applying to state the BHP numbers, and claim 570BHP instead of 540BHP. Doing so will only increase the number for our claimed HP#, so we don't mind it. We are just going by the dyno result vs. Kia's BHP rating, and we thought it was logical to do so.

If they go with a 15% loss, it makes their crank HP rating even higher. You seem to imply the WHP is calculated off the crank HP, but it's just a reading from the dyno itself. This is why baseline runs are important when modding for comparison. Stingers seem to put down stock WHP higher than one would expect for "365" crank HP. I've attributed that to a reduced drivetrain loss as well, but others feel the Stinger is simply underrated from the factory. *shrug*

I think its safe to say the Stinger is under rated so can't be used to calculate drive train loss. 10% is conservative but i do see the intent of tying it back to the stock crank rating. Yours is probably making closer to 560-570 crank hp.

I agree. Though all dynos are different essentially every RWD Stinger I've seen stock results for are between 327-335. Stock Stingers are probably closer to 385 crank hp.

This is why I hate that all manufacturers always publish crank HP numbers. Because drive train loss can vary so much, it makes it almost impossible to compare cars based on this alone. IMO all manufacturers should use the same type of dyno, calibrated to the same specifications, in a controlled environment with all variables within certain tolerances, and that should be the published number.

Whatever the hell it is, the gains are bloody substantial!!

Zyro The only true crank HP is off the engine on a dyno for sure....Im not implying whp is calculated off the crank ...that's correct... its just an algorithm at 5252 rpm where torque is changed into HP on a dyno jet lets say on a given day, and that figure on the dyno takes into account a whole lot of variables It does not make a whit on what box one buys to me...I say buy whatever flips your trigger ....that's why they make chocolate ,vanilla, and strawberry :) Wash

There have been a few Stingers dyno'ed on conservative dynos (Mustang & Dynodynamics). These showed more realistic numbers. HP Factory did the dyno dynamics one and showed 292 rwhp stock which would be around 20%. I think everyone is forgetting that all dynos are not created equal.

Edit: did the math it's actually 20%.

exactly, if someone wants to really find out if the Stinger is underrated from the factory, they should pull the engine and run an engine dyno :)

Lets just get the 1/4 mile time and see how fast it is. Thats all that matters.
We just like beating vettes, mustangs, bmws etc.

When we put AWD GT on our 4x4 dynojet without pulling the AWD fuse, it puts down about 290-300WHP. For what it's worth, it shows another 30whp drivetrain loss. While dynojet is consistent from one another, it is quite impossible to say about the other brand of dynamometer. For example, Mustang dyno setting is never the same from one to another to the point one can read crank horsepower and another with 30%+ loss, which we refer them as heartbreaking dyno. Mustang dyno also has a set up to read it just as much as dynojet. With that said, it is very easy to compare one Dynojet dyno to dynojet results, but not when it comes to other brands.
