You drive a Stinger today while your Optima is in for an oil change, and you specifically request the 2.0-liter.

I know the 3.3-liter would be intoxicating. I've had several cars with over 350hp, and they're fun in their own way. BUT ... I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, and the opportunities to unleash 365hp are very limited. You might get to squirt through traffic for a minute, but then you're right back on the brakes. You can't really stretch its legs.

My 2.0-liter turbo Optima feels plenty lively, and I can outrun most drivers under the driving conditions we're blessed with around here. The extra power of the 3.3 would really be a factor only on the highway, and I frankly don't get to do more than 1 or 2 road trips a year. So the 2-liter serves me well. Since the Stinger's engine is virtually identical, and it has the added benefit of an 8-speed transmission, it feels equally responsive to me in spite of its extra weight.

Yeah, it would be fun to have a big honkin' twin-turbo engine, but it would be a shame to have it and not be able to use it. Like I said in the title, maybe this is how I know I'm getting old. Lol.

Well I got that 3.3 and it is intoxicating when I put my foot down but I don't do it that often as the car is plenty quick in all modes. Someone was trying to close the gap as I was changing lanes, I hit the go pedal and I was away from traffic so fast it was great! You know my feeling on this as we have bantered about it for a while here and on the Optima forums, the 2.0T is more nimble in my opinion but the noise level was my main peeve about it and that I feel it could use a bit more power. Having said that, the fun is over real quick when I get on the gas as the speed comes on so fast and effortlessly it feels like I'm cheating. Still love it though! :)

3.3TT was my first must have. I find myself on open highways enough to justify it, and road trips will multiply, further justifying my decision. I am sure I sleep with a smile on my face more now than at any time in my life. :D

Mike...

I’m 28. I’ve had AMG’s, M cars, Audi “S” models and all the other performance sedans. My Optima was the first under 600HP car I’ve ever owned (besides my Land Cruiser).

I drove my Optima for 2 years and wanted something fast, but didn’t cost $90 Grand. So Stinger it is. I think I’m with you on this one. The 3.3 is a blast, but I haven’t really put my foot down in it yet. My Optima was just enough for me! I guess you can say I’m getting old too?

lol. Age is relative, Callum.

But no, I just think we're "practical". ;)

I know I'm old!!! I also owned a few ass planters in my day, I am happy to report although the ass doesn't get planted the right foot still does!!! the 2.0 t is fun to drive, period.

Only as old as the woman you feel they say.
Ew. I always hated that saying. But the alternative is no answer either.
