Sunset Yellow Discussion

...I would drive a baby shit green Stinger just to get back behind the wheel until mine is done.

Pretty sure they should offer that color on the 2019! ;)

But I do understand. I went to the dealer looking specifically for the yellow. Test drove one and decided I wanted to buy. Since there was the stop-sale, I waited 2+ months for it to get finished. Went right back in once it was done and bought it!

Grizzog

Did you get any kind of a discount? Were they 'desperate' to get rid of it?

I got, to me, an exceptional price and trade in deal. I am very happy with what they were able to do. Love the car and the color is fantastic!

I am curious, are you "eligible" for the Voluntary Service of repaint or did you have to sign something saying the car is "as is." Hopefully not the latter as i dont imagine they addressed the paint issues on lot vehicles??

Day 45 I was finally contacted..should be another 1 to 2 weeks..going to have a small window as next week the wife is out of town for work and the week of the 22nd, I'm out of town for work..but here it is.

Please be advised that settlement checks for your repurchase have been issued and we are now proceeding with surrender scheduling for your 2018 Kia Stinger. Kia Motors America works with our outside vendor, Morley, to accomplish this process.

Please expect contact from a Morley representative within approximately 5-10 business days to schedule a date for your vehicle to be turned in at Jeff Wyler Fairfield Kia. A Morley representative will meet with you at the dealership to ensure that all appropriate paperwork is completed before you will be provided with the settlement check. A walk-around will be completed on the vehicle at the time of surrender. As a reminder, you may be held fiscally responsible for any damage and/or excessive wear and tear to the vehicle so, if possible, please address any such service before the surrender date.

Very nice...so did they already pay the loan off with KMF? I notice the tense went from plural to singular with regard to settlement check. Id imagine a small window due to the payoff window provided by most lenders is 10-15 days at most.

There's two checks being sent to Morley, they send the one to your creditor and the other they will give to you. She also told me if I make any more payments between now and when it's settled, it will become a credit and the creditor will then pay you that difference. She said that they overnight the package and checks to Morley so they will have it tomorrow, so it's all in Morley's hands from here.

I'm lost here...if your talking about if you make any more payments, then getting the credit from your creditor (in my case Kia Financial) it makes perfect sens to me.

The car was repainted before I got it. There was a stop-sale and I went back a couple months later once it was repainted. Car comes with all the regular warrantied items including paint.

All I can say is WOW!

I never should have even started the repaint process. The geniuses at my body shop strike again! I made a simple request, "please don't re-badge the car when you're done painting it"

They then said, "nope, Kia demands that we put the badges on it"

I then said, "well, I really want black badges, can you do that?" to which they replied, "sure, if you pay us".

We dickered around on a price, settled on it, so I bought the badges. The badges have been painted.

NOW - the same folks who painted the car the wrong primer color in the first place, and caused me to be without my car for an additional MONTH are telling me that they cannot put the new badges (that they painted) onto the car because (I LOVE this part) - THEY MIGHT RUIN THE PAINT TAKING THE OLD ONES OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait, wha?

I swear to all that is held holy I will refuse this freaking car today! What the unbelievable f__k is happening here?

I cannot get my car inspected because KIA sent all its folks to a convention - so well screw you if you need help - and now THIS?

NOPE! Not happening, not a chance.

</rant>

I am sending this and any other post I make to my case manager at KIA. I want them to know this is dumb/stupid/asinine. It is specifically because of folks like this why I went out of my way to purchase my car in NC. Trouble is, even my sales guy has had enough and he has moved on from Kia.

Perhaps I should too.

(And don't tell me to calm down - screw that!! It is NOT happening to you)

100% agree and understand where you are coming from. They are acting like its THEIR car and KIA can only dictate what happens to it. Every one of these asshats forgets one simple little truth....WE ARE MAKING THE PAYMENTS AND THE CAR IS OURS.

I hate to hear this and I would 100% demand a buyback or replacement right now. That bodyshop is full of it because @StungnTn had his shop leave the badges off, my shop is leaving the badges off until after inspection and me looking at it to determine if I want to keep it or not.

Your case manager, whoever they are, can definitely call this shop and get this fixed ASAP if they wanted to. Mine did b/c some local yokel tried to tell the shop to not paint my doors, roof, and tailgate......oh hell no. It was sorted by the next morning and I didn't contact my rep until 1730 EST, so don't let them tell you they have to get approval. It depends on how motivated they are to help, but then again, there's too many people able to make a 'decision' in this entire process.

dammit all.....

This stings because the car was a birthday gift from my wife. If it was something that I just bought well shit, they would have had it back months ago.

I still have my Genesis lease, a nice Jeep, two Mazdas and I am purchasing another car for my kid. Yes, I have a car problem, I know.

Funny thing is that I have better luck with the Dodge/Jeep folks and getting them to act than I do with Kia. I would have thought it would have been the other way around.

I read this article this morning Kia Hasn't Decided Whether The Stinger Will Get A Second Gen and thought "what shit, Kia will renew the Stinger, the car is brilliant."

Then I called the dealer.

My mindset has changed. Nice car, but the crap network of chucklehead folks at the dealer network will kill it dead.

Yes, it makes sense. Its funny to me that Kia is telling me to get a refund from a third party. Not sure if you have ever dealt with this but it comes up a lot with insurance companies and doctors/hospitals. My experience is that it is not always easy to get that refund from a third party. For me specifically, there is a Credit Union Branch very near my house so should a refund be due after all this is said and done, i have no issues being there in person to help "motivate" return of said funds.

Wow, i am surprised to hear they painted the lot cars prior to the purchased ones. Maybe it makes more sense for them since there is no customer in the mix saying the repaint was not up to par. Glad you were able to get and hopefully no further issues.

I would be beside myself on this one. A paint shop is worried about ruining the paint they just applied??? WTF does that say about the entire job as a whole and their confidence in their own work. So sorry to hear this.

My buyback letter is sitting on my desk. I need to review all receipts and payments made to ensure Kia got the match correct and then i will sign and send it in.

I have given them until 5:30PM ET to fix this whole thing, or I am done with them.

I will let the body shop explain to Kia NA why there is one more Stinger to sell.

I truly hate to say this next bit, I should have bought the Dodge. What has the world come to when that thought even enters a sane mans head? At least with that hunk of junk, I know going in that I have to replace the moving, twirly and electrical bits if I want to keep it beyond the warranty period.

My wife and I went and looked at a 2018 Challenger Scat Pack (yellow, of course) about a month ago. Decided we might, and thats a big might, look into the 2019 Challenger Widebody if the Stinger paint BS goes south. I love the Stinger more than any other car I've owned, but DAM if that 392 doesn't sound mean as hell.

All kinds of ways to get power from a motor, but sitting there at a red light, revving, and having the whole car shake and twist is just something you can't get from anything but a V8.

Don't get me wrong, I would still rather have 2 turbos spooling and raising hell under the hood, but the 392 would be a helluva consolation prize.

Dam nice!!! My wife and I only have a 3 yr old Boxer for a kid so luckily we can go with 2 or 4 doors. I've been in a couple of Chargers, but only got to drive the Challenger on a test drive.

The Challenger is a massive car to pilot though, feels more like a 40ft wide guided missile than a car. But it does handle well despite the size, and gets almost as much attention as the Stinger did..........(when i was driving it, lol).

The nice thing about it is that I can get parts at Pep Boys - LOL.

We will see what happens though, I am presently waiting on a call from Kia..... Who knows what riches lay in store for me next from them?
