I typically use Mobil 1 full synthetic with Fram Extra Guard as a filter. What is your preference?
Wait. Royal Purple really gives a performance gain? I never even considered that a possibility...Mobil 1 is my go to oil. Definitely a Synthetic oil. I've tried Royal Purple in order to get a performance advantage (For Personal Driving Pleasure) and it seems to let the engine rev more freely...but seemed to lose that advantage a little more than halfway through it's lifecycle. I also tried a couple different versions of High Mileage synthetics....but didn't notice any difference...so I just went back to Mobil 1. My current car has a drop in filter that can be changed without changing the oil...so I just get the basic filter and change it 2 times before the next oil change. The alert system usually comes on between 6,000 and 10,000 miles. I go by it.

Thank you for the explanation. Very interesting... I will definitely keep this in mind for the future...I never actually got it Dyno'd...but compared to Mobil 1, I definitely noticed the engine rev'd more freely. In fact, when I went back to Mobil 1 it seemed to me that the throttle response was a little slower. It's all just a feeling though. I once tried a Mobil 1 0w that they promote for improved gas mileage and it had a similar effect...but not to the same extent.
20W is nice if you do long distance driving in deserts + lots of high revving to provide sufficient oil pressures.BTW: Since all recomendations are fine with high temps and the generally little resistance of that very runny oil.... why not generally use 5W? Whats the advantage of 20W in not so cold areas?
Welcome aboard, @Ruturaj! Thank you for signing up!I will use mobil 1 Extended performance oil and filter. These filters are great compared to many (almost all) other filters.
