Doors and sunroof very loud

tried it ...NADA !

Surprising to hear. There have been other owners with the same complaint, and their dealer cured it with silicone spray. Not the sunroof though.
Hope you get it worked out, will be following your progress.

Consider the opportunities for impacting the integrity of the "seal" .................4 doors , huge sun roof and a hatch ....................its a recipe for "movement"

The thing is, they realized that and used expensive, High-Strength steel around the hatch opening.
Again, will be monitoring this.

"The Stinger’s hatchback-style trunk opening created some specific challenges the team had to address. There are other five doors out there, but if you’re going after handling, this is a huge engineering challenge, this big open space in the back of the body. So there was a lot of work that went into the body in white to make sure there was this stiff, rigid chassis that we needed,” said Hedrick. “This was really a trick because it’s right over the suspension point so you’re pushing all of the road inputs right where you have a giant hole. So the backend, if you watch it on the CAD it can really move around a lot. So there’s a giant ring of ultra, high-strength steel that goes around this opening, which is a really tough material to work with. It has to be molded while it’s molten, while it’s red hot. So they have to move this thing, and it’s all done with robotics to give it the proper shape.”

More like two and a half weeks by now, isn't it? That's a lot of work they are checking into. Hopefully it will all be good to go when they are through; and won't take much longer. :fingerscrossed:

Well they are waiting for Kia Canada to reco resolutions and action strategy , remember it's , door creaking , moonroof noises and hatch rattle/clunk , as well as seat bolster fix/replace ...................If they cant fix it I'll pursue a a possible trade up for a '19 or sell .................I can't drive a "noisey" car

I'm right behind you brother. Let us know how it turns out.

This happens on VW Golfs and BMWs as well. On those it's the felt pieces of the weather seals rubbing against the metal door frames. Lots of solutions posted on those forums. To test it, use some spray wax along the door frames where the weather seals meet the doors. Sound gone? Then you know it's that.

there are lots of earlier posts to remedy the sounds BUT I want KIa to do it first , the liability needs to be theirs not mine , I've had these types of noises from the doors on a few BMW's and I'm sure they can fix it , But my experience has been that sprays and lubes are temporary , the door seals likely need to be replaced to fix it permanently

The bottom pic is an Optima, isn't it?

I searched further and I'm not sure.
Can't find the pic I saw in one of hundreds of articles, that showed the ring around the hatch on the Stinger.
It's confirmed in text though.
Maybe Optima has a similar ring.

I saw a post w/ a link of a magazine's feeling of chassis flex, so I read that, then googled "kia stinger chassis stiffness"
Apparently, there is some consensus that the chassis does flex:

"Is it perfect? Not quite. Despite all of its capabilities, the Stinger doesn’t have all of the chassis stiffness we’ve come to expect from the best European sport sedans. But, it is only a matter of a small degree.

Front seats are plenty supportive for track work, and thankfully since it’s doubtful too many Stingers will end up there, they are more than comfortable for long distance cruising.

The Stinger does feel great on the street. So, any lack of track rigidity actually translates into a great highway ride. "

Also, I have heard about Optima sunroofs making unfixable noise. Motorweek had one on long-term.

Matt Maran on youtube said his Stinger was full of noises, too.

You know that noises increase over time. No car is exempt. The first noise might be there right off the dealership lot, and not get worse for thousands of miles and years. A car with zero extraneous noises will develop the first manifestations sometime down the road, if for no other reason than it's a machine composed of thousands of parts that age. The first time some service people take a panel off and put part of the car back together a noise may appear, and trying to fix it might work or have no effect or make it worse, etc.

"Nothing in life has any business being perfect" (King Henry, The Lion In Winter).

My dealer just called to say the noise (s) are gone ........................I'm picking it up shortly , stay tuned .

I've noticed an increasing in creaking from the doors and sunroof - have otherwise had no issues after 5000km.

The creaking occurs throughout general driving conditions (smooth road and in turning slowly or accelerating slowly).

Additionally I find parts around the roof have lots of flex, namely the sunroof and the "plasticky" rails that run parallel with the sunroof in between the sunroof and metal body. You can literally push the rails and they'll bow downwards.

Just my observations. Will get it all checked at the 10000km service. I hadn't noticed the creaking before but normally have music on.

How hard or blatant do you need to hit something to destroy a wheel like that? Unbelievable.

Seriously! You’d think they would have heard or felt that when it happened!
They were hoping I wouldnt notice ! ..................here's a better one for you ................they were going to replace the tires on my Sorento due to warranty problems ....................and they took off the old tires , rotated them and put them back on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! called me and told me "all's good , tires or on come and get it !! ......................beauty !~
