Today I pulled up to a light waiting to merge onto the highway. A full blacked out SRT Grand Cherokee pulled up next to me. Luckily I had the inside lane when turning onto the highway so I hit Sport mode and got ready. The light turned green and he chirped the tires trying to get in front before the turn. It was on! Lol.

Luckily he took a wide turn so I cut the inside as much as I could. It gave me a half car length lead by the time we fully straightened out but we both kept going. I slowly pulled away and was about a car length in front of him by the end of the onramp. It was clear so I merged into the center lane and let off. He zipped past me, blinked his lights, and kept going at stupid speeds. Not sure what he was thinking when I obviously walked away from him, but wasn’t going to waste time when I saw I had him.

I really love the SRTs, but I’m so glad I didn’t jump on the first Scat Pack I drove. They sound amazing and there’s nothing like that V8 top end. But I’ve had several runs with a variety of SRTs and have either walked on them or stayed side by side in each race. I know the SRT Jeep is heavy but still thought the extra 100+HP would help more.

The SRTs may look better on paper and occasionally get a win in perfect conditions, but I’m finally convinced they don’t have anything on our Stingers!:D:thumbup:

My fun has been with a Hellcat, he assumed he would pull from 50mph and he was shocked to see me right next to him..

Now that I have the JB4 optimized, I can’t wait to find another

I'm not a car guy but the Net lets me catch on fast. SRT shows slightly quicker 0-60, by c. 3 tenths. Top speed is only slightly less than the 3.3TT Stinger with 19" staggered rims. But stability!? I would not want to try for 160 MPH in an SUV!

You got him by a "whole" car length. Woo! Don't get cocky. ;)

I am properly warned: don't try on an SRT with an AWD Stinger. Especially if he "chirps" his tires. :P

Way to go Stung.... two things...first...even if the Grand Cherokee would have beat you...you still have a way better ride! And second....wait for it...............a car length on him is a damn good win....been drag racing on the street, on the track, and on the water...and Ive won and lost races by a lot less than a car length :) Wash

Nice kill, I’m looking forward to giving one of them a run too, funny must be the type of owner with GC SRT’s most I’ve seen are usually fully blacked out as well.....

Lol. Sounds a little like a nonbeliever;)

I am a car guy and suggest getting some real world experience instead of believing everything you read on the “Net“

But following that logic you should also find a few other things on the net. First, only the latest SRT Jeep with the 475HP runs 0.2-0.3 quicker to 60, the previous 470HP 5speed is actually 0.2-0.3 slower to 60. Second, even the new one still can’t break 12s in the quarter mile but stock GTs run as low as 12.6. Finally, I posted that have intakes which a few people confirmed drops 0.1-0.2 off acceleration times.

So yes without exaggeration I had a “whole” car length on him by the time I let off. Ok so maybe it was a few year old SRT, but either way I stick to my original statement. SRTs aren’t as fast as I thought...

As I said before they’re numbers look great on paper or the “Net”, and Im not saying they’re slow, but in the real world facts are sometimes hard to believe.

And I wouldn’t say that about our AWD brothers. Most of them could probably match up with 475HP SRTs too. Don’t doubt our Stingers, they have the “power to surprise!”:p

I'm not doubting. But the newest SRTs being two to three tenths faster than a RWD GT is going to result in a lot of lost races if "we" try this often. Your description of how the race got started says something about how you might have gained that car length and kept it to the top: you were on the inside and the GT is going to corner tons better to boot. Even I might try that one if I had the inside to the on ramp. It would depend on if the SRT was neck and neck accelerating out of the turn, which I would doubt is possible if the GT is being pushed through the turn to its capability; that's where the SRT is going to lose out on the initial momentum, and it won't get it back up the on ramp, even though it might start to close. The AWD GT might even have an edge in this initial race through the turn over the RWD; the RWD's edge in the straight 0-60 time is from a dead stop, not a rolling start, and the race doesn't really begin until you get around that turn to the on ramp. That's your moment to get ahead in the AWD. (I see that entertaining this scenario has already settled into my brain. Will destiny allow me to try it out? Will I seize the day?:geek:)

Street Racing Technology just sound cool. There’s a few videos online that has the Stinger taking on SRTs and winning.

Nice win. I took out a 2006 Jeep SRT8 not too long ago at the track. They had me at the jump, but it didn’t last long. Check it out!

@BallsAwesome How did you launch, with Launch Control or manually or with automatic trans and mashing it?

Well done ! I watched this vid 3 times and would say he got the jump on you for sure , whether he cheated or you were not fast enough on the brake release , but I've raced this same Jeep and no way it will win off the line vs and AWD GT ( assuming both are stock ) ,

Oh, definitely had better reaction time. It was my first time at the track and second race ever. I’ll improve

Thanks and I completely agree, a car length is huge when it comes to racing. However if you read all the details of my encounter it’s a little less impressive.;)

Since I already had about a half a car length coming out of the turn I only took another half a car length by the time we hit the highway. Either way it was enough and put a smile on my face.:D

Great run and that’s similar what happened with me. They jumped ahead first, but caught up quick and then walk away from them the rest of the way.

As somebody who has owned both and borrowed a HC for awhile, I can say 100% a new SRT should stomp the Kia off the line. Jeeps LC is vastly superior to Kia.

The old body style SRT, aka the 6.1L is slower than the 6.4 but is "stronger" inside which is why most use this motor for boosting. I can post many time slips which show the SRT is fully capable to high 12's STOCK.

I have yet to see a legit race between a 2014+ SRT vs GT2.

this is a lighter car than a Jeep and not a great vid but it does tell the story
