That's the thousands of dollars question. From what I've been reading on various threads on the forum, the mods have violated warranty six ways to Sunday. In fact, if you break your car "racing", Kia can claim no warranty. They say as much in the manual.
Ok, this is how ignorant information stays alive. For the purpose of this, we will define a "mod" as something other than OEM equipment.
A mod alone CANNOT void a warranty in the USA, period. There is no if ands or buts about it. The ONLY way a "mod" can affect a warranty is if damage occurs that is PROVEN to be the fault of the "mod." Further the manu must PROVE the mod caused the damage. Even further, the dealer/automaker CANNOT blanket void a warranty either. All they can do is deny that particular claim.
