Yeah, but you soo much brighter.LOL. I like your idea. Nevermind, you don't have to get service where you buy....Only warranty has to be done at a dealer, and not necessarily the selling dealer. I would talk to you know who and ask what can be done. You decide. You or your friend talked with my wife when you were at Rob's.:)

BTW, you can open a Brokerage Account in Buffalo and have stuff shipped there. You go to Buffalo and pick it up. I have an account. It's simple.:)

Haha I was wondering who you were! Your wife was super excited about the car! I'm going to leave the deposit alone, I would feel bad doing that. I haven't really interacted that much with my dealer to be honest. I'm sure they will be fine to work with and they are 5 minutes from my house can't beat that.
 
If you order from Tirerack, they'll ship to an installer, say Buffalo, you go there, make the changeover, and take you changed tires back, unless they are done of course.
Why would you leave the tires across the border? I think I am missing something here.
I was really meaning tires and wheels , ie winter set up , my experience on bringing back tires hasnt resulted in paying duty but a complete tire /wheel combo would likely raise a flag , so my friends just leave their off season set ups in Blaine and go back and forth . I did dedicated winter wheels once but ended up just changing to Hi Perf AS and running the stock wheel and selling the stock tires on Craigslist

Are your local tire shops that expensive? I can't seem to justify using Tire Rack after all the shipping.

I got quotes from $1,750 to $1,850 taxes in and installed for a couple 18" allow RIM options with Micheline X-ICE 3 rubber. The K022 option above was $1850 at a local tire shop.

As moinmoin suggested there is no reason our dealers shouldn't be able to discount the packages. Mine encouraged me to go elsewhere however.

Also don't use the BMW as a reference point for rims, they have different bolt patterns, offsets and center bore.
Use hubcentric winter rims. Try to avoid 19" jist as a cost reduction use 18"s that and a slightly wider sidewall. There is no reason a dealer shouldnt be discounting the winter tire package, especially since there is no discount on car. But do your homeowrk on winter tires cause most people overpay for name and name alone.

A new all season is 40% worse than a worn winter tire. Take no chances. An awd drive loses control you lose all 4 wheels not 2. Even the Stinger has 5% to front wheels when not in full awd.
I used Continental DWS AS on my X6 for 4 years , with 3-4 months at Whistler living on one of the steepest roads there with excellent results , I'm not saying AS are better just practical . I lived in TO for 5 years with AS on an Explorer driving to Niagara several times a month in winter and never came close to an issue ...........
